New guy...
« on: October 25, 2011, 03:53:40 PM »
HEllo,  New guy here.  Couple weeks ago, I bought a 09 Ruby Red LE Redline, flew from Arkansas to Indiana to get it.  Only had 1200 miles when I picked it up and put 50% of the total miles on it driving it back home.  Loved it!  Little performance background, came from the Ford Lightning 5.4 performance family.  Built one of the first Gen II turbo Lightnings with full built motor and Garrett GT76R turbo on it, truck made 750hp/850 tq before I sold it.  Took a few years off with a boat, now I am back to cars.  My Dad has a Solstice GXP that I Talked him into buying a year or so ago, and from that time I knew I would own one before long.  Have spent the last few weeks in the search function, learned a lot.  Anyway, wanted to into myself, wish I had been part of this board when it was more active and the car was newer, but Im getting what I can get from the site.  Looks like fun.

Heres a couple pics of the old truck.  And Ill throw in a cell phone pic of the car too

Matt

Truck went 10.90 @ 132, is the fastest it ever went.  Depending on the 60' and the converter and how the turbo launch, its went a lot higher than that at times.  Was a very finicky deal.

Very nice truck, and I am sure the Redline won't stay stock for long :)  Welcome to the madhouse, where the wallet comes first.

I have already ordered the intake, elbow, ic pipes with bov (yes, I am part of trying to make that work, not going so well so far), the 2871 swap, and a tune from Trifecta.  I knew it wouldnt take long, never has for any other vehicle Ive owned, until I would mod it.  However, I am going to try to keep this one close(r) to stock.  Ive been fast, spent money, and ended up with an empty wallet, I hope I can keep this one where at least the wife can drive it.  She wouldnt touch the Lightning from the drivers seat, said it "scared her"

Im still holding on the tune until I know in advance I can get a few days loose to install the turbo.  Really still trying to decide who I want to do it, or if I want to go HP tuner direction.  I did the tuning on my truck with SCT and the pro racer package, so I may do the hp tuner route.

Welcome. There are a lot of neat mods the people on this forum have done. If you have a question, just ask and someone can answer it. You might also be interested in a backbone and probeam from DDM and a front brace from LatinVenom . These will greatly improve handling.

I saw someone autox a lightning once.  I was very impressed with how well it handled.
They are beasts.

Arabas, don't trade you GT, just add a truck to your stable.
:)

In Greece the taxes should only cost, what, $10,000 a year due to the engine size???

O yea

Welcome aboard New Guy!!

no Elff, not $10.000.
only around $9.900
these kind of trucks are 0.0000001% of the Greek market, so no interest for me.
still, i'd like to get a 1.4L-1.6L Turbo small SUV............... and drop this HUGE engine in the engine bay!!!!!!!!!! :yay:
