Looks like a surface capacitor burned out not sure how or why.  The Green LED lights up but the PC or Laptop will not recognise the unit so the connection from the unit to the PC is not made. The unit is getting power from the USB port connection its just the PC or Laptop will not recognize the USB connection to the unit.

i'm an electronics engineer by hobby... i could likely fix it ^_^ i've seen the internals to these and they're actually really simple microcontrollers... they just use a rather less popular mcu which helps from people pirating the hardware. (not to mention needing to get online)

but as i'm updating the title... mine has sold

The Saj

Yeah this person said he could probably fix it and now he says its lost and cannot find the unit.
Don't like bringing stuff like this on the boards but in this instance to other board members BEWARE.

Did he get it and lose it.  Or did it never get to him?

I just had a package sent from Texas to me.  3 days Texas to Baltimore.  5 days from Baltimore to me ( <40 miles) and it still wouldn't be here if I hadn't gone to the post office and demand they put a trace on it.  It had a tracking number.

I have done the same thing.  Used something and put it down, but not where it belonged and not be able to find it until I bought another or didn't need it anymore.  Some times it is right in front of me and would bite me if it could.

Hell I misplaced a mechanics stool somewhere.  It may be down at Joe's or somewhere else.  I just know I don't have it anymore.  I proved that by buying another and it didn't show up.  So it is gone.

Could you email HP Tuners and report the unit as stolen in case whoever ends up with it tries to register the serial number? HP Tuners could deny registration making it unusable. I don't know if they would or could do that but if it were mine, I would try.

Hopefully this wasn't one of our board members.
