New Premium Halogen Bulbs
« on: February 24, 2009, 12:09:16 AM »
Mike at FocuzTech help us get their Putco fog (893) and head lites.  See original ad at:

Premium Halogen lights from Focuztech

Here is the Putco, OEM, and OEM washer

The Putco comes with an washer installed so I remove OEM washer and used the Putco.
Lift the hood and twist and pull OEM light out

FIRST slide the red locker up  Slide it down after new light is in place

Removing the green socket from the light may be a bit hard -- flat blade screw driver just  below if the socket with work.

The photo does not do it justice, but The yellow cast in the right/driver's side light is clear.

BOTOM LINE $25 for the H13s, five minute mod, and great new lights Strongly recommend

Good job at posting up your install results!

I can see the light is white as compared to to the stock headlight.
I guess my questions would be:
Do the new bulbs give you any better side to side visibility?
What is the beam projector pattern as compared to stock?
Does the bulb cast light in a more narrow or wider beam then stock?

I have tried several different bulbs but am still not happy with the end result.  I wonder if the Putco bulb gives any better side visibility, i.e. wider beam?

Thanks for the thread, good job.

I will check tonight.  Don't think the bulb will change the beam much because the reflector has not changed.  However it is clearly whiter --as I wanted -- others ordered blue.  I will have to take photos of DeepBlueGXP's once they are installed.

I'll talk you into it ...

Frank I

Didn't get out until tonight --  They are a bit wider, but a LOT whiter and farther reaching. I live in the COUNTRY -- with little light at all, but lots of the #1 killer deer. SO being able to see better at night is a big thing. I like the look too ;-)

Took a little getting used to as they don't reflect a glare from the road.  There were two kappas following me Saturday night, one with the new bulds one without, big difference.

I think you can see better.

I would LOVE to order the blues and the white fogs.  But I HATE to admit that the page is very cumbersome to order from.  Have you considered OSCommerce at all?  I think the major part of the problem is that I am at work and have numerous interruptions.  I will put in my order when I get home.

I installed my blue headlights today, it was a simple swap.  The light seems brighter without all the scatter that I am used to.

I installed the whites in the fog, and holy crap those are bright!  And me and my FAT claws had to install it WITHOUT removing the fog light lenses because I couldn't remove the side grill.  I tried for an hour and gave up.  With a little patience it can be done.

I think my right headlight is off kilter though and may need a re-aim.

Excelsior ,  did you put tape around the bases of the Fogs . the putco bulbs don;t have the locking tabs. the tape will keep them from vibrating out over time . Thats what joe did to mine.

Hmmm, I seem to remember laying on the ground watching the tabs lock just like the stock ones did.  This was because of the sudden learning of how to be a contortionist.

Go stick two fingers into the honeycomb where the vent hole is and yank hard (I mean hard) and the bracket will pop off.  Then you can remove the fogs...

Like I said, huge claws.  The only finger I could even get close to fitting in those holes is my pinky.  And that is only partially.

I switched out my lights when I got the GXP with Sylvania Silverstar Headlamps.  Does anyone know how the Silverstars compare with the Putco?  The Silverstars made a big difference over the OEM.  They are much whiter.

I had put silverstar in my turn signals.  The only reason I had done so was because it got rid of the egg yolk and replaced it with a nice blue when not lit.

Anyone know if there's Premium Taillight Bulbs also? Just wondering because I was thinking of tinting my taillights but would need some brighter lights so it would go through the tint and be just as visible as before.
