OOO Noooooooo
Thats most likely from oil.
If you are lucky, you might have blown the turbo and not something in the engine.

You really need to get that tune fixed.

Yeah - that could be from the tune, couldn't it?

Best wishes and hope it isn't a piston.

The car will barely start and if it does it shakes like a SOB. Doesn't sound promising. I'm praying it's something simple.. I can't believe it. I've been so down on my luck, and then this happened. Rock bottom. Regardless I have no money. So I can't even tear it down to look because then I'll just have it in pieces in my dads garage.

Johnny-
There are a million clichés for moments like this, hang in there, keep your chin up, the best is yet to come etc.

I'm not sure they ever help anyone, so I will tell you what I did when I hit bottom.  I got really really angry. For those that know me, that is a complete departure from who I am. I got damn near vile. Although I was no fun to be around, it was my anger that fueled me. Perhaps it was  the wrong way, but it got me to where I am now. I'm not telling you to scream :censor:  Off to the world, or to stop calling your Mom and Dad, or to disappear from your friends, but (insert cliché) the world is going to keep going. The only one with the power to change your situation is you.

As for the car- you're not going to like it. Sounds bad, smells bad, costs thousands.

Do you have alternate transportation?

Sorry to hear about your car.
Take a little time to regroup and consider your options.
The reality is that your car is worth very little in its current state because the number of people willing to buy a broken car is very small compared to the number who want a running one. Do whatever you have to in order to get the money to fix it even if you have to sell it after. The increase in value should more than make up for the cost of fixing it especially if you are able to do a lot of it yourself.
Hopefully by the time you have finished fixing it you are able to afford to keep it. If not you will have learned some valuable skills and may be able to afford another one by buying someone else's broken car and doing another build.

Do a compression test. If you need pistons, I  have a good used set you can have for free.

Johnny 2 things you can do your self
1. Remove your Turbo and inspect it for damage
2. Remove your Valve cover and inspect it for damage.

If that does not show any obvious damage, the next step would be to go one layer further which might show an issue with a piston and/or ring

And don't run the engine until you get to the bottom of this.
Sorry to hear what happened and here's hoping it's nothing major. You have to dig in and find out what happened.

Well I have no choice but to tear into it. I have some toys I could sell... But I need those so I don't lose my mind.  I appreciate all of the concern. I will be looking for boat loads of advice as I find out more. I will post as many pictures as you all need to help me diagnose this issue. No suggestions will be bad suggestions so please just spit them out! It can't help to check. So what I will do is start a new thread under. "The shoe string rebuild" please comment anything you want me to check so I have a list before even turning a wrench. Then as I go I will post pictures and data. Thank you all so much. Looking forward to a long... But rewarding road. It can only get better from here.

Ugh, yikes. I'd buy a cheap boroscope before tearing everything apart. I think some places rent them as well. You'd likely be able to see piston damage.

I think the very first thing I would do is drain the oil and look for metal particles that will tell you a lot about the condition of the engine at this point I would not try to start it until you get a handle on the problem hopefully it's not something major Good Luck !

Nope. Cruising down the highway and poof. Blue smoke and no power. Had to get her towed home.

So no grinding, clunking, or strange noises?  Just blue smoke (oil), and it died?  I would think trying to turn the engine over by hand would be the first step in trying to diagnose if something mechanical has broken?

Blue smoke is oil and it's only going to be coming from a few places.  Like Elff said I would look at the turbo because if it were to go it would cause what you describe, and it doesn't cost you anything to look at it.

The next thing I would do is a leak down compression check.  This is the kind of check where you put the piston at TDC and put like 80 psi into the cylinder and see how much it holds.  If you have a low reading listen for where the air is escaping.  Intake or exhaust it's valves, oil filler is rings/piston, coolant is a head gasket or crack.

Once you have an idea where to look then start digging in deeper.

Well that was easy... Using my cool little snake camera I can see that There is a pool of oil in my cylinder closest to the dashboard. AND I discovered my plugs were loose thanks to my crap mechanic of a brother. So i guess head over to the turbo side and pull the charge tube?

Or piston damage?  Kelu has some pictures of damaged pistons from his engine on the forum someplace.

If it's just one piston that you notice the oil on, I doubt that it's the turbo. You'll probably end up finding a broken piston as mentioned above. Are you able to do a compression test? Could also be valve stem seals? If you are able to do a compression test, can you also do a leak-down test as mentioned by SA?
