Are the GXP and NA grills the exact copies of each other?

The shape is the same, NAs are silver GXPs are black.

I seem to remember there being some difference as it relates to the curvature of the bumpers and therefor the grills. I think they 'fit' but not correctly. May only have been certain years.
Someone with the ability may want to check part numbers.
I've been wrong before.

I remember reading that the Aftershock grills fit different on the NA then on the GXP.  It had to do w/the intercooler grill slightly changing the grills curvature. All the pics Aftershock uses show a silver GXP, so I'm assuming that he used his own car to develop his products.  And I'm still digging the side rockers.

The test car looks familiar...so that's where Tony stores his car in the winter!

I'm liking this!  I bid on one of the last sets of AfterShock ones way, way back about 8 or 9 years ago.  I'd be up for these!

Hello, well got some rough pics. These are not painted yet but they do fit. This is a NA model, I just fitted them to a GXP they will work as they are slightly different at the bottom. If there is enough demand I will make a GXP version, but the NA will work with some modding.

Now, we are re-using the stock grilles by removing the outer ring, cutting into the backside groove all around. This can be done with a cut off wheel or grinding, its soft plastic. Using a drill through the tabs that stick through the grille then a screw holding the grill nicely in place. Price ready to paint $295.00 Thankyou from Norm 574-255-7843

Can send them out right away, but those weren't GXP grills? The grills on the GXPs were black and the grills were silver on the NA cars.
It's not the grill that is different in my understanding but the shape of the bumper.

GXP for me. Norm, can you come up with a price to install them and paint them black. I would bring my Coupe to you. Probably get a rear fascia while I am at it.

Hey NS, I was wondering if you thought if you could use your black mesh grills instead of the honeycomb?

BTW Norm, I vote for a GXP style too.

Anyone know if fiberglass can be plastic chromed?

Hey Chop,
I might be misunderstanding your question. My Race Mesh are on the roadster and I love them. Am thinking of this for the Coupe which I have not touched.

We need to try these on a GXP again. We know that the GXP and the NA use the same grill but a different color so these should fit the GXP. Only difference on the GXP is that the OEM grills sit back from the face of the bumper a bit at the bottom because the curvature of the bumper is different down there.

Here's a post from DDM Dave some years ago from that other recessed grill thread.
The grills are the same on the NA and the GXP, on the NA the grills fit flush with the nose, and on the GXP the grills fit inside the bumper a little on the bottom. The problem that Rudy had with the recessed grills is he made them fit flush with the GXP nose, which caused them to stick out a little on the NA nose. So if you want the recessed grills to fit flush with both bumpers you would have to make 2 different sets.

I would really like to see these in a GXP before Norm goes to the trouble of making another mold. No pics Norm?

Sorry NS, I'm getting your mods confused.  But I was wondering if you thought that the metal mesh would be an option instead of using the stock plastic honeycomb?

If I'm understand the recessed grills correctly, the recessed grills are separate pieces, and then the customer will  have to cut the honey comb from their OEM grills and then bond or screw(?), them into the new recessed grills bezels.

No. Don't see Race Mesh working that way. Plus would have to replace fog light bezels in Race Mesh. I will probably buy an extra set of kidney grills so she can be returned to stock. Just checked Crate Engine Depot and they have a GXP set for $140.00.

Ok to be sure I've got an extra set of NA grilles will fit them in a GXP bumper here to make sur the grilles are indeed the same. Bob still send me your grilles anyway and I will fit them to your new GXP recessed frames. Thanks guys I making the pattern for the GXP version as we speak. Too bad they are just slightly different, but enough to make a new mold.

Awesome, dont see any reason the Race mesh grilles that you have won't work. Might have to cut them down a little so they fit through the opening. That Mesh material they use is so tough to cut it's PIA, but everything we do here is a PIA, lol. Dont buy the Kidney grilles I have a set.

Your'e right so Race Mesh grilles will work just need to be cut down a little.
