Fuel Injector Cleaning Service
« on: October 18, 2017, 09:35:46 PM »
I meant to post about this a while back, but it came back to my attention so for what it is worth...  I had an issue a year ago with rich idle codes and high oil level (2.0 turbo).  All signs pointed to leaking fuel injector.  I pulled them out and sent them away for ultrasonic cleaning.  This fixed the problem.  The big hiccup during this service, it was discovered that the injector filter screens are an unusual size.  Unfortunately the old screens were damaged on removal and a replacement could not be found.  Fortunately for me I work for Bosch and I was able to get someone at the plant to send me 4 filters as a favor.  I tried to find a way to supply the injector service with filters, but didn't get anywhere.  Anyways, he just emailed me to let me know ASNU has finally started supplying these filters.  So if you need injector cleaning (or have them out for another reason), you can finally get them serviced properly!  I used Race City Injector, they did a good job and were great to deal with.  They felt terrible about the filter problem, and worked hard to make it right.  I can't really blame them, I was basically one of the first people to need injector service on our type and nobody supplied a filter.

Good to know. Wonder if the screens are now available if this is something a DIYer will be able to do.

I am curious if this is a direct result of not having a fuel filter on the Kappa platform.

Thanks for sharing!  Some type of fuel filter is on my list for my kappa rebuild.
