RPM-Motorsports Tune
« on: March 22, 2018, 12:02:47 AM »
I see many debates between Trifecta, Westers, and other tuners however, I can't seem to see anyone who has used the RPM-Motorsports tune let alone any reviews.  Anyone running it?    Thoughts?

Oh won’t find many reviews on here.

As they aren’t a supporting vendor.
And there was a lot of shady stuff from them (under the previous name, GM roadster, and strictly aftermarket)

But haven’t heard anything bad in quite some time about them.

Guess everyone deserves a second (or third) chance.

Ask in the solstice FB groups
He frequents there alot

Back in the GMRoadster and Strictly Aftermarket ventures, Martin was splitting his duties between being an Executive Chef and running a car business.  Neither venture faired well because of this.

With the advent of RPM, I have heard that Martin has given up the chef side to devote full time to the RPM business. I have heard good things from MOST of his customers, but there are still some that are disgruntled, but that is true of most businesses.

Personally, I have not done any business with him, so I cannot say one way or the other. If I have to do business with him, I'll be counting my fingers both before and after I shake hands with him.

 :idk:

Back in the day the big beef was that GM roadster's tune was thought to be an unauthorized copy of Wester's tune or at least was based on his tune and gave that appearance.  If you search this forum for GM Toaster you will most likely find the thread and can read all about it for yourself.

I never had any issues in dealing with Martin and had bought a bunch of items back in the day.  Nice guy who had some issues with running the business.
On SkyRoadster, people who have dealt with him in 2017-2018 have all had very good experiences so I will add to the sentiment that he seems to have everything working very well.
Robotech is one person who has been very pleased with his service so you could PM him or on Skyroadster to get a current customer point of view.

Well,

I spoke to Martin in order to cover some questions I have had.  Looks like I will be going with a stage II without the downpipe.  No downpipe for now since I need to save the funds for the baby coming in the way.  Anyways, with the tune I seek via RPM, it should make me real happy.

Hoping to get the charpipes and tune next month.  Lets wait and see.

Since I have dealt with Martin/RPM motorsports a few times (getting parts and now getting tuned) I thought it only fair to leave a review so people wondering what their options are could know about his parts and tuning services.

I can't speak to his past and to me it didn't necessarily matter, if you look at me a few years ago I was in no way a reflection of who I am, or where I'm at today. So I waited and read up like most and went back and forth and finally decided to try them.

I gotta say I'm glad I did! The parts I got I felt were really good quality and performed like I hoped they would. First round I went with a CAI in yellow and a catless downpipe.

Second time - matching yellow charge pipes / silicone boots / clamps etc.

Then got tuned - first his skills/abilities - he spent a bunch of extra time to get my car right. The car had a few issues and he didnt stop or leave me hanging. He helped me get everything straight to make sure I would get the most of my tune and have it run safely.

For the tune itself - all I can say is DAMMMMM - just ask anyone else who has had their car tuned if you can tell the difference and they will quickly answer yes! It is so different. In my case and probably others it makes the car soooo smooth. It really feels like the car should come like this in the first place. It dosnt feel like its pushing to make that extra power it just feels real natural if that makes any sense.

I am extremely happy with everything I've done so far with RPM
They can be a little difficult to reach as he is always busy but emailing does seem to be the trick. I didnt realize till the last time I talked to him that everytime I do it ends up being a lengthy conversation as I always have a ton of questions and he loves talking about these cars. And is a wizard with them. He's been modifying and working on these since the beginning and his pashion is evident. I can only imagine that everyone he talks to probably has alot of questions and its probably hard to even get work done if your always on the phone talking cars. This seems to be a thing that many have complained about for years with all vendors feeling like they are hard to reach and have heard most reply to email them.

Anyways I'm not one to post alot but really felt it only fair to write a honest review on Martin/RPM motorsports since it was asked if anyone had any info and I myself couldnt find much about them that was current when I was looking so I hope this helps. I have no other interest in writing this other than letting others know about another option since there arn't that many.

What you should ask is for him to give a list of the tuning values, such as AFR etc... since in the past these were the issues with them, as the tune values were not in safe zone.

I bought charge tubes, air induction tube/filter and high flow catalytic converter from RPM for my 2008 Sky Redline. Good quality products and Martin walked me through an  install issue resulting from my own small mistake. Then I had RPM tune the car. I'm happy with the result. The price was fair, and the car rips! Martin always took time to explain things and educate me about my car. I have nothing but good to say for RPM and Scott Martin. I'd do it again...in fact I just may if I good find the right orange Solstice GXP.

Thanks for the reviews.  I've been around the forums for awhile and had heard negative comments about RPM in the past.  Within the last couple of months I've started reading the Sol/Sky FB group posting (still don't like the format), and I am starting to read positive comments regarding RPM now-a-days.  So it appears that Martin dedication is starting to pay off.

For his first two ventures into the automotive aftermarket field (GMRoadster and Strictly Aftermarket) Martin was splitting his time between the auto side and the Executive Chef side, which didn't have a good result, at least on the auto side.  With RPM Motorsports, I have heard that he is devoting 100% of his time to RPM and has quit the chef business.  Time will tell, but I have been hearing a lot of praise for this new venture (RPM).

Well, I went ahead and ordered some charge pipes and Stage II tune.  I am need to save the funds for a high flow cat as my first kid is on the way.  Anyways, Martine has been pretty quick with email responses.  Chatted with him on the phone and I am excited for the tune.

So....besides RPM, who is also a top notch 7tuner?   Looking for one right now.

Let's just say I'm having issues.

How did your tune work out? Considering a tune myself and torn between RPM and PAW. Trifecta is a closed tune and I don't feel good about that.
