Wanna play a game? Guessing my next fun car?
« on: March 09, 2020, 03:32:15 PM »
So, no more fun car for me in the last 3-4 years, Opel GT was sold 3 years ago and I was looking for something fun, I test drove Camaro 2L Turbo (too slow) and the latest Mustang (it was moving around too much).

So here we go with the clues:
- It is great family car but is not an SUV.
- It is a fast car but is not a sports car even if has some special badges.
- It is an "european shit box" but with some "exotic" engine "adapted" with more hp and a lot more tq from factory. Insane power for it's time and huge gains with a tune and maybe an exhaust. (I can't quote the type of the engine or power because can be easily identified).
- It is 10-12 old model, it is still produced but only this model has that "special" engine from and used in pure sport cars.
- Was not sold in US but as in a lower version with a weaker engine, the successors are sold in US.
- Is more efficient in terms of power usage than is fun.

Here we go.

C63 AMG? Had a co-worker who bought one new in the right time frame, I know he picked up a ton of power with a tune and exhaust...

C63 AMG with its very impressive engine is not an "exotic" engine from pure sport car. Indeed turbo engines gain the most from a tune and exhaust. The one I'm getting is faster :D it gains 100-120hp from only a tune (compared with declared stock power).

Gas, Diesel, Electric, hybrid?
 I wish for a Chiron but too far away for me and is not a family car :D Gas only, no other combo ... don't forget is a model from 10-12 years ago

No, that car looks great, the car in question is a square family box, unimpressive to untrained eye and is a VAG (Volkswagen AG) car.

Yessss and Yesss, it is build by "Quattro" (now named Audi Sport GmbH) brand from Audi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_Sport_GmbH

The question remains: Which model and what engine? :D

Bigger than 3.2, much bigger :) is not an usual motor for Audi, they use it only in one model and then they switched back to their “traditional” setup.

RS 6 typ 4f (C6 4F) wagon?

Yessss ... ding ding, we have a winner ... ah wait... is not called wagon ... is called "Avant"
The engine is from Lamborghini Gallardo (VAG owns Lamborghini), many parts still have lamborghini stamp on them but Audi added 2 turbos to be more appropriate for a large and heavy family wagon for their RS line up.
The factory declared is 580hp and 650 N⋅m (479 lbf⋅ft) of torque from 1,500 to 6,250 rpm, but in reality seems like the power is about 610hp, hence the 100-120hp gains from only a tune.
In RS line up the V8 or V6 is standard engine for Audi, they tried only this model with V10 twin turbo but the time frame was very bad (financial crisis 2008-2010) and they switched back to V8 afterwards.

More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_RS_6#C6_(Typ_4F,_2008%E2%80%932010)

Yep, shows how much I don't follow any VW-related brands anymore...even Porsche gets a yawn from me these days.
Not a problem, if you got something from this topic than is a gain, any gain is good. We can't keep up with everything or our heads will explode.

Here is the actual car.

I'm not "announcing" officially because I'm waiting the documents from the previous owner. I will make announce it after I have it on my name with my plates.
The car has 2 previous owners, the last one has it in last 2 years and did only 7000km (4300mi) and in total the cars has 97k km (60k mi), all maitenance and service history at Audi dealership. Inspected by my friend who runs Renault / Nissan dealerships and seems to be in great condition mechanically.

I really wish station wagons were more popular here in the states...

Was just reading the wiki, they didnt import them because America hates wagons.

My first car was a station wagon with a V8 and also I was very disappointed after learning the Buick Tourx wagon doesn't LS.

oh well, I hoped nobody will ask that :)
1600€ ($1,800) per year only in tax, if I pay in the first 3 months there is 10% discount so 1450€ (1,633$).
This year is paid by previous owner (this is a rule).
