Thanks for the info, it was interesting.  Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not clear on the production number on my VIN.  According to the listing that was referenced the last 6 digits are the sequential production numbers.  My numbers are 111253.  What number is my car?

thanks,  cmbj

Thanks BB

When the info at that link didn't fully explain my '08 GXP, I did a bit of digging and found this GM site that provides coding sheets for each model year.  It explains all but the last 6 digits, which is the sequential production number.

See the first page at each link (GM 2000 - 2009): http://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/

Sequential number (last 6 digits) question:
For our cars, I believe this number began at 100001; does this sequence represent:
(i) only those vehicles with the same previous VIN digits (other than model year)?  I ask based on my s/n which begins with 128... meaning the 28 thousandth plus car produced and is a 2008 GXP; in '06 and '07 combined there were more than 48 thousand Solstices produced and in 2008, less than 16 thousand.....? OR,
(ii) sequence of vehicles coming off the line at the plant, per model year?  So as Wilmington produced Sky, Opel, Solstice, and Daewoo GX2, it would have been the 28 thousandth car off the line for model year 2008?  Does the first digit (1) represent Solstice, Kappa, Wilmington, or other?

That site says the rating is .005% on my Car and only 274 Solstice GXP's with the Carbon Flash Paint were Made for 2008 .Also said at least maybe 1 other only in different Plant. going to try printing it out.
