I would concur with everything that Ben L and GregGXP had to say.  You are indeed a very lucky man.   :woohoo:  Carol and I celebrate your recovery from this surgery and wish you a fast and speedy recovery and return to good health.  God's speed!  Very soon, you will be back again driving your Kappa.

That would be my concern also. We know that you will give him the best of care. Thank God he's alright and just needs recuperation. Just make sure that you take care of yourself also.

UPDATE:  Jeff was in good spirits yesterday.  Much more alert and speaking very clearly.  He didn't remember much of what happened the day before, except going into surgery.  He had to laugh at himself as I & his nurse Mirriam told him how uncooperative hew was with her until I came in and threathen to take care of him.  He knew he couldn't bully me.     He does remember me being there most of that 1st day but that was about it.  When I arrived yeaterday morning, one of the 1st things he said to me was:  "Honey, I had one of my fantasies fullfilled....well sorta fullfilled this morning", I said really, which one on your list?  He said:  "I had four women giving me a bath in bed this morning"  I asked: Did you behave yourself?  He said: "I don't remember", so I stated:  Well, than it could have been 4 burly guys giving you a bath if you don't remember. , by this time Mirriam is dying laughing & Jeff said:  "well you could be right, but I like what I remember better"    So I said, ok, than you can mark off that your list now.
Yesterday morning, he had to get a unit of blood, his temperature was down, he's apprehensive about cough & using his spirometer, (due to the pain) but he is doing as the nurses ask, (probably because he knows they'll tell me & he knows I can be a "bulldog" ) early afternoon they removed the arterial line & PAC line (this line measure the internal pressures of the chambers of the heart) and he was down to only 3 IV medication drips from 9.  He got out of bed around 4pm & did very well.  He's been eating  errr drinking clear liquids.  He should get to start on a full liquid diet today.  They plan of getting him out of the bed and walk around the ICU today as well.  If all goes well he should be out of the ICU by tomorrow and into a step down unit.
When that happens I can call his daughter Allison's group home to let them know that one of the counselors can bring Allison to visit her dad.
:thumbs:Yesterday morning, before visiting hours, I went by Lazy Boy & purchased a recliner for when Jeff is discharged home, since he will need to keep his legs elelvated when he's sitting down for awhile.  They should be delivering it tomorrow.
Now I get to re-arrange the furniture in the family room.

Thanks again to all for their support, prayers and encouragement.  Enjoy the 4th & light some fireworks for us.

Great News!. We'll pray that everything keeps heading in the right direction. Had our 34 year old daughter go through open heart surgery last March. It's a hard time, but as you know, being a nurse, make sure he keeps up the cough and holding that pillow. It will certainly make a difference down the line. Our daughter is doing fine and we will pray that Jeff will do as well.

Carol and I were so glad to hear the good news, and so happy that Jeff is doing great after the surgery.  Kudo's to the great Doctor's and Nurses that cared for him in the OR and RR!  When he get's home Pat, just tell him to relax and enjoy the new recliner you got him.  Jeff, so glad you are good to go.

UPDATE:  Yesterday, 7/04/09,     :usa: Jeff is recovering well.  They removed all the IV medications, chest tubes (3), foley and had him up doing laps in the ICU.  They started him on a soft diet and will probably be going to more solid foods today.  He was 4th on the list to be moved out of the ICU to the PCU (Progressive Care Unit).  He has his spirometer (breathing exercise) up to 1250 which is great since he started out at less than 500.  I just received a call from the hospital this morning ( Of course, as soon as I saw Bon Secours Memorial Hospital on the caller ID, my heart stopped & I thought "Oh no, what happened" :o ) They were calling to tell me that Jeff was being moved this morning out of the ICU to PCU Room #2261.  Talk about a sign of relief
Some friends just came over to move 2 pieces of furniture out of the family room down into our basement where the masterbed room is to make room for Jeff's new recliner that's being delivered today.
We'll be staying in the Guest Suite for a few weeks so Jeff doesn't have to navigate the stairs too soon down to the masterbed room.
So now I'm getting ready to go on my way & take him some lounge pants so he's not "flashing" his backside to everyone
Things are looking much brighter & now if I could just get some sleep.
Hope you all had a great 4th of July  :usa:

Ha ha, Don't let him get any ideas about JPM doing any custom upholstery or embroidery on it. I can see it now, "Honey, I love this new Lazy Boy, but i just thought of a way to make it custom...."

Ah, so true, you lucky lady.  Now he can flash his backside to you, his beautiful wife!  What better place and time to put your great nursing skills to work.  Thanks for the great updates.  Again wish Jeff a complete recovery and the best of health in the future.

Pat in March of 06 I was at my regular doctor for a routine check up. As a result of witch he sent me to get a stress test. The outcome was, I was walking death. They kept me and set up immediate surgery. I was awake and do know it was
damn cold in the operating room .They put(6) stents in 3 different arteries, the LAD,RAC and CIRC .My heart was just like Jeff's.only thing different was I did not have any symptoms of any type Doc just didn't like what he .

a p.s. from Bob's wife:
They did 3 stents in his RCA, 2 circ, 1 LAD -- he was over 90% blocked in all three arteries, but fortunately in locations amenable to stenting.  Like your husband, he was mostly asx, although his might have been having sx masked by a GI problem he was having.  We're very lucky it was caught when it was.  (I thank god every day for a sharp Internist.)  Our prayers are with you both.

UPDATE:  Sorry for the delay in the daily update

HE'S HOME!!!!!!!!!  :woohoo:  :yay:   :dancing:

Went to the hospital this morning, Jeff was chomping at the bit, Surgeon came in & told Jeff "I think you can go home.  Do you feel like you're ready to go home?"
He couldn't write the discharge instructions fast enough for Jeff.
The final thing was he had to pull the temporary pacemaker wires from Jeff's heart, wait an hour to ensure there were no dysrhythmias, than disconnect from the portable heart monitor and sign his release.
I got him home around 1pm, he went straight to his recliner and the 2 of us cuddled up, fell asleep and just woke up.

If you think him not being able to drive for 1 month is bad, he can't even ride as a passenger in the solstice for at least 1 month.  He can't ride as a front seat passenger, period.  If the passenger front airbag can't be turned off, he has to ride in the back seat & since the solstice has no back seat......no fun cars for him for at least 1 month   :cryin:

We will survive.  The best thing is that he is home    and on the mend.   :yay:

Now maybe I'll have time to catch up on all the threads, especially the one "Get NAK3D", now that's our kind of thread & both of us definitely want to join in
