Solo exhaust/high flow cat sound!
« on: August 13, 2009, 07:26:36 PM »
I recently started a video project that involves cars. So, I bought several camera mounts. The other day while testing different locations...I was able to get a video clip of me going through the gears. Here it is...

Thanks guys. I will try and get a shot of the gauges.

I have the Solo High Flow Cat and the RCD exhaust. Plus, the Wester's race tune (Not the most recent one.) as well as the Dejon intercooler. Oh yeah...Can't forget the K&N filter. :)

Hi, I have the RCD exhaust as well. Was thinking about getting the High Flow Cat as well. What benefit or increase in power will I see? Do you think it's worth it? Oh... I have the Westers Tune as well.

There is no "recent one". Lyndon tunes EACH car based on ITS ecm, mods, octane, drivers requests, altitude, etc. This is what separates him from the "toaster" guys.

Gains from the high flow cat are about 12hp and 20 torque.  I dyno'd next to another car and the difference was the cat, that is what he made in addition to mine.

Thanks Snaponbob. I was referencing info. from the following thread...http://KappaPerformance.com/forum/index.php?topic=2583.0.

Based on that thread...it sounds as though some folks are testing a tune that will help all...No?

Bob, I am not sure that is entirely correct. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying this to knock Lyndon or to compare him with the general canned tuners out there is any way. Heck, I just plunked some decent bucks down for HPT and his tune because of the respect I have for him.  However, when I sent my stock tune to Lyndon, I only told him what my mods where (Solo RCD) and nothing else. Thirty minutes after sending him my tune I received the race tune. If something isn't quite right when I install the tune (tomorrow) I am sure at that point Lyndon would do some tweaking. It only makes sense though that he would have a number of tunes done based on if the car is stock, has an exhaust, exhaust plut intercooler, etc....  If he later tweaks a tune that isn't specific to a mod (GMPP), to squeeze out some more HP or TQ, then I could see how a "recent" tune could be beneficial to everyone.

Of course I could be talking complete crap... but it sounds good

He can squirt out a tune in a hurry because he DOES know what he's doing. After one has his base tune for a specific car, there is only a certain amount of "plug and play" for the mods one has. He is sort of a "tune geek". Equate this to a highly skilled mechanic who can do an 11 hour flat rate job in 5 hours. How? He LEARNS !!!!!!!!!!! Been there, done that. Don't worry about the money you have spent with Lyndon. He is worth FAR more than what he is getting.

I have no worries about the money at all Bob. Did my research and listened to those that know. Lyndon is it when it comes to tuning our cars, at least as far as I am concerned.

I plan on getting the Solo HF cat next. I have pretty much what you have. But talking about the K&N filter, does it throw any codes? I heard it does if the oil from the filter gets on some sensor...not sure which one?

The drop in filter really doesn't have as large a chance at throwing the oily MAF CEL as the filter from the Fujita intake does.  I used to have a drop in filter and they were never really oiled to the point where it was slimy and overdone.
