DickW, if you already bought the tune from Westers, you are allowed free updates.  Just contact Lyndon.

I have HP Tuners, and can turn off the light but isn't the rear O2 sensor affect how the ECM mixes AFR?

One does not "turn off" the light. Rather, HPT does have the capability to "disable" the reading of the sensor, so no light is displayed. Based only on personal experience, with all the tunes I have receive from Lyndon, at 70mph with the top up and AC off, the fuel mileage has remained rather stable at about 30mpg. When towing or "having" fun the mileage goes down more than it used to as the turbo is spooling MUCH earlier than before.

You scan for codes, download the complete tune, find the code and disable it, then write updated calibration table and the code will never bother you again.

So the o2 sensor does not effect engine performance? Then why stick an 02 sensor in the tailpipe when you dyno?

Are there 2 02 sensors?
There is usually one before the cat that feeds the ECM info on AFR to make sure it's correct with the Command AFR on most vehicles.  The other is after the cat somewhere and I think is there to make sure the cast are working properly at least that's they way it works on most vehicles.  So the tune turns off the rear o2 sensor.
The reason they stick the sensor up the tail pipe when you dyno is so that they can make sure your AFR is not going too lean.  Depending on the vehicle and how many cats you have the tail pipe reading can be off a bit because of the cats influence over the o2 in the exhaust.  On my Ford V8 supercharged truck that has 4 cats the AFR was off by almost 1 full point (.7) when compared to my pre cat WB o2 sensor that I had installed.  On most vesicles the AFR might only be off .3 AFR which is no big deal.  In addition the Dyno WB may not be as ac currate in sampling rate than a aftermarket or our WB o2 sensors which will sample at a higher rate.

Someone with an 08 please try this :)

quote

I have a 2008 but it is a HHR SS maual. I had a Westers tune, went to GMPP tune and its throttle
response was poor at low end compared to the hot Wester tune I had.  I downloaded the GMPP
tune and sent to Lyndon. Took 4 tries as the boost after loading was too high, starting at 28 psi
and after 4th try, we got it down to about 22-23 which is all the SS clutch can take in 4/5th gear.
He also fixed the throttle response and I had to readjust wg mod some to minimize knock.
So he has done a 2008 HHR GMPP which is probably pretty close to Solstice 08 LNF cal.

I get my car back from the dealer tomorrow.

Not sure exactly what was wrong but i think it was the fuel solenoid.
I also had an oil leak, they said it was coming from the turbo.

As soon as I get it back im gonna put the Westers ECM back in and upload Westers newest gmpp tune which I just got about 5 days ago.  Im assuming this is going to be the best/fastest tune i've ever gotten from Westers.  I'll report back :)

2008 Manual GXP btw. :)

I just received Lyndon's GMPP tune over the weekend. It is a 2007 with a Dejon IC, SOLO Mach and hi flow cat. Is it as fast as my previous race tune on stock sensors? My buttometer says no sir ray Bob! What I find troublesome is the amount of burbling that I get when I back off the throttle. Do it too swiftly and it will  reward you with backfires. Ease off the gas under moderate rpm and you get lots of burble. Like you are running a race exhaust. I wonder if anyone else is having the same experience or is this a result of lack of data for 2007's? It is certainly better than the GMPP stock tune with the exception of all the burbles. Comments?
Has anyone come up with a way to switch out the MAP's back and forth quickly? It would be great to be able to change back and forth to compare the old tune with the GMPP+

I agree with you on the not as fast as original tune without the sensors and have stated this many times before.  Eventually I think this will improve as Lyndon gets interested in tinkering with his tune of the GMPP tune.

The worst was going from Lyndons tune to GMPP.  That felt like going back to a NA solstice.  At least with his tune of the GMPP tune, the fun came back.  GM performance division should be embarrassed.  I wish they would have just paid Lyndon to develop a tune for the sensors.  We are no way close to unlocking the power these updating sensors would allow.
