In the end, I think some useful comparative information would emerge, particularly from the curves and raw data maps.  But its still never going to be apples to apples, because each tuner tunes for different parameters, and every car is different.

Ben,

Thanks for the support again.  And yes, each tuner tunes for different parameters and each car is different.  What we are testing is the tunes - eliminating the car (by keeping it the constant).  What I am trying to find is - what are the differences?  If they all did the same thing, it wouldn't matter which one anyone bought other than the price.  What does each company do differently and how does that affect the results?  Thats my quesiton.

Hey guys,

Superchips will gladly provide a programmer for this shootout. Steven, contact with me when you get the details hashed out on this project and I will get the product out the door.

Scott,

That is GREAT news! :yay:  Thank you very much for being willing to participate!  I can see this taking some time to get completely organized and put together, but I will be in touch when the time comes.

Ok, everybody, two down, two / three to go.  And of course, the dyno...

Gentleman Jack, although as people say, the results will not indicate one clear assumption, i am with you on this one. i believe a dyno test comparison is better than nothing at all. conclusions can be drawn, they will not be the ultimate truth, but rather subject to anyone's judgement. your plan is ambitious and as i can see people here actually help you to go on with your plan in the best possible way.
glad to see the vendors are responding to this test.

as i said, it will certainly not be a final judgement dyno test that will have one winner, but rather a collection of usefull information on all great different tunes out there.

Dejon would have to be checked, but they are working on vending Trifecta which has a proprietary loading system.

Dejon Powerhouse is an authorized dealer for Trifecta Performance, Inc. and stock their down load cable and interface module, as is CJ of course.

Scott, I just re-read your post and wanted to clarify one quick note, I am trying to keep this from being a "shootout" between tuners.  I realize that there is something at stake for the tuners depending on what info might come out, and I am trying to figure out how to prevent the "competitive spirit" from taking over here.  I don't know if that is realistic, but....

UPDATE: :)

Ok, I just heard back from Lyndon Wester, and he is in.

I'd have no problem supplying a custom tune, but I'd need the ECM from your car to do so...I'm not stocking Solstice computers at this point.

:yay: :yay: :yay: :ca2: :us2: :ca2: :us2:

Just need an ECM.  Anybody got one?  Or anybody storing their car for the winter?  Might be able to just borrow it?  What does an ECM cost?  Junk yard? Probably not many...
