HP tuners PC requirements?
« on: October 30, 2009, 10:25:15 AM »
If I were thinking about getting HP tuner in the future what are the requirements of the Laptop/Notebook PC?
I really would just like to spend the least amount that I could since Id probably just be using the Laptop/notebook PC with the HP tuners and that's it.
Thanks

From their website.
Quote
Minimum Requirements:
Windows 98SE/2000/XP or Better
800 MHz PC or Laptop
256 MB of RAM

My opinion even I don't have HPT: if you are able to run Windows XP in good conditions HPT is good to be runing on that configuration. I wouldn't go lower than using Windows XP, a 2nd hand laptop like that probably is not more than 200-300$ over there.

I'm dreaming at a in-dash-pc with HPT.

Runs fine on Windows 2000. Just any cheapass laptop that works and is no more than 6-7 years old will run HPT. It is not a very demanding software program and takes very little system resources to run. Heck, I have an old POS with Windows 98 and it runs on it !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting a copy of windows 7 sometime next week, and I'm going to try and get it running on my Mac. After that I may have to pony up and get HP tuners. Anyone try it with windows 7 yet?

My son in law has cautioned me about installing 7 over XP. Upgrading from Vista may be easier, but from XP it may require a LOT of work. He has 7 Beta for a while and likes it a LOT better than Vista. As he bluntly put it, "7 actually WORKS !!!". So did people at Best Buy and Dell computers.

Right now my Mac is running Mac OS 10.5 and nothing else. Going to pick up 10.6 next Saturday after the autocross.
