Exhaust Tip Cleaning And Buffing
« on: November 11, 2009, 06:31:50 PM »
This is a tapered buffing wheel with a 1/4 inch shank that I found at Harbor Freight for less than $5.00. It works well for buffing the flare on the inside of my tips. I use white rouge compound to rough clean and buff. Then Mothers Mag And Aluminum Polish to finish buff. Caution: This buff is rated for 4500 RPM Max. So if you use an 20,000 RPM die grinder like I do keep enough pressure on it to keep the speed down.

Here's the pictures you wanted. They were taken at night with a flash. The tips look better in the daylight.

I keep a rag behind the seat and and if I wipe the soot off every time I drive it they stay nice for about a month. Then it takes very little buffing to touch them up again.

I was hoping for 2.5 RWHP but I can live with 2.
