Nice one. I like the fact that he compared the stock system to the Mach Shorty. Gives you a better idea what the difference is with them both on the same video.

I agree...that's why I thought it would be a great idea to have a thread like this.  It comes in handy for many people on the fence about buying exhaust systems.

As you can see, these are both on the same stretch of road and approximately the same time in the morning cuz I take these vids on the way to work :)

(Watch in Hi-Def ;))
First Video - 08 GXP, Dejon IC/Intake/Spring, Westers Tune, STOCK EXHAUST & STOCK CAT.

Redline to 1st, 2nd, and almost to 3rd.
YouTube - Solstice GXP Gears 1-3

Second Video - 08 GXP, Dejon IC/Intake/Spring, Westers Tune, SOLO PERFORMANCE STREET RACE EXHAUST & STOCK CAT.

Not driving nearly as hard as the first video.
YouTube - Solo Street Race Stock Cat Driving 2

Also, first start up of the Solo Performance Street Race Exhaust.  My gf started reving my cold engine but later on you can hear how the exhaust quiets down a bit to a nice rumble :D

YouTube - Solo Street Race Exhaust Stock Cat

Any request for a sound clip??  I'll see what I can do.

Awesome clips...thanks.  Cold start-up is always loud, but it quiets as soon as the engine temp rises.

You will notice over time that the exhaust sound will soften slightly as it breaks in.  It will become more smooth...in other words, with age it gets even better!

Yep it smooths out some, but even today when I drove the GXP into work I still can't help but smile :)

I have a clip of my start up and revving in my welcome thread...

So, what combination of downpipe/muffle/no muffler is the smoothest and deepest sounding? I want something loud, but crazy wouldn't be appropriate in my neighborhood.

Just got back from a business trip, so I'm going to have a fair amount of OT pay coming my way...

The Street Race and catless downpipe would be your loudest and deepest setup...but it is loud!  Many go with the Mach Shorty and HF cat.  It's very smooth yet not quite as loud as the setup I just mentioned.  The quietest setup with a cat would be the Mach with HF cat.

How would catless with the mach, or even mach shorty compare? I know lilgoat has the catless/mach setup but it's been a while since I last heard his car.

So I like a powerful purr that turns into a muted snarl (how's that for a description!).  I like the stock GXP but it always was just a wee bit quiet and now I am finding it quieter.  I see two options - a full Mach exhaust kit ($700ish) or an HF cat ($350ish).  I don't know that I have heard an HF cat with the stock GXP exhaust.  How does that sound?

Going catless with the Mach is also nice.  You will hear a slight hum inside when cruising around 75, but not at all bad.  My recommendation if you are worried would be either HF cat and Mach Shorty (what I have on my daily driver) or catless downpipe and Mach.

Thanks for fixing the links Joe...you are the best!
