3rd Annual Springfield, IL St. Patrick's Day Parade
« on: January 14, 2010, 07:35:43 PM »
Sprfld-IL-Sky has just registered us for the third Annual Springfield Illinois GM Roadster St. Patrick's Day Parade Participation.

Springfield St. Patrick's Day Marching Band Parade
Saturday, March 13, 2010 Craic-O-Noon

Other Details will follow as we get times and meeting places decided. Looking forward to better weather and the beginning to the top down season.

I'll try to monitor this one better, in case Sol Asylum would like to join us!!!  I'm really sorry about that!!!!  That's completely my fault!  We'll get you out and about with us one of these days!

OK, we've had a lot of fun doing this...last year we had...I don't know...11 cars...maybe more.  Just about as many they will will allow us to enter in the parade!  Hoping to see some old friends again!

Sol Assylum,
You were supposed to be at my house this morning to help with an install!  What happened?

Alright...here's the info from Sprfld-IL-Sky regarding the meet up spot.  Looks like we have 6 or 7 Kappa in the parade!  And the weather is looking decent...46 next weekend.

From Sprfld-IL-Sky:  I got confirmation of our spot in the 25th Annual Springfield St. Patricks Day parade, Saturday March 13th, 2010. We have to be checked in by 11:00 AM. So if folks could make it to my house by 10:30Am that would be perfect.

My Address is as follows:

2921 Stokebridge Rd
Springfield, IL 62702

If you need a full wash of your car there is a car wash close to my house. It is at

Tropical Rain Car Wash
3001 E. Sangamon Ave.
Springfield, IL

I'll have a hose and bucket should you require a spot wash.

I have not yet secured an after parade Eatery.

Thoughts...

Mario's Pizza
Cheasepeake Seafood

I will check today to see if both are open on Saturday. I can't wait to see everybody.

I'm still not sure if I am going to get over there or not for this.  Most likely no, since I have been doing so much traveling for work so far this year, it's kind of nice to just be at home.

I was just in that area on Thursday, I had a seminar at the State Fair Grounds.

Does the group ever have just a get together some night or weekend?  I used to hang with a Triumph group that would have tuning clinics or something car care related every month and then some sort of social thing that may or may not have anything to do with the cars every month or so.  I didn't notice anything like that in the news letter that you sent out.

It's kind of a different experience when you take a British car on a camping trip, or to the drive in movie theater.  The same could be done with a Kappa.

Yeah, I forgot to mention 2 things, so I'll send out an update.

We're not really a club per se...we just kinda throw something out there and whoever wants to do it, does it.

But forgetful that I am at times, forgot to mention the monthly event that got some of us going...  There is a monthly car show in Bloomington/Normal put on by the Twin City Cruisers.  About 8-10 cars, sometimes more, used to do that monthly.  They are always held on the 2nd Saturday of the month from April through October and start around 4:00-5:00 pm.  Usually there are 200+ cars there.  We had our own Kappa theme night a few years back and had about 27 Kappas there.  We meet and hang out at the show, then we usually go out for dinner somewhere.

We've looked at doing other things such as drive in movies or golf.  And we have gotten together just for dinner over the winter before.

One other thing we might want to do that I forgot to mention.  The weekend before the 2010 NASSM, the Hot Rod Power Tour will be cruising through IL.  I think I may run to Iowa that Sunday, since I will probably leave my dogs with my dad, and pick up the tour at Little Amana off of I-80 Sunday morning.  I think they are cruising all the way to Springfield that day, but I need to check their website again to be sure.

Also, I see there is a get together in WI the week of May 1st.  I'll add that too.
I'll update the newsletter and add those 2 items, since I knew I was forgetting something when I sent it out.
