SMMM7 bad news
« on: January 15, 2010, 10:17:34 AM »
It's not cancelled, just the dates need to change.  It's still quite early so it's more of an inconvienence to everyone except GJ, who has to change his flight.  :sorry:  This is out of my control.

I was scheduled for business travel the first week of May.  I"m the coordinator of a huge H-60 fleet wide 5 day conference and the place we are going to (have to leave this nameless) is closing for unexpected repairs from 1 May to 30 September.  This means I have to move up the dates to April.  I can't do it the first week since that is Easter and the second week is already completely booked.  This means I'll have to travel the week of the mod meet and Dee is traveling with me.

With all that being said, the meet will have to slide a week since we'll be out of town the 18-24 April.  I've been working this issue for the last several days and today I'll be finalizing the conference dates.   As soon as I know the new dates, I'll post here

Works for me.  The 27th is my my wife and I's anniversary.  I was in luke warm (not HOT water) water about being gone during our anniversary weekend anyway :)  However, if it slides to 1/2 May, I probably won't be able to go :(

Ouch!

Joe,
I know you wouldn't do this unless you had to.  I will keep my eyes out for the new dates and see what comes up.  On the bright side, I can probably get flight times that Critter doesn't despise so much :)

Well. Ces't la vie.  Funny, I usually procrastinate until the very last minute.  Oh well.

Also found out that the area in the Ranch Club Circuit just passed the Mod Meet photo area is blocked when I drove through today after I heard about cliff collapsing problems.  They've blocked the road on top.

According to a co-worker who lives in that part of the ranch club, some sort of endangered beetle lives in those cliffs. Apparently shoring up the cliffs or constructing some sort of seawall would threaten their habitat...kinda doesn't make sense, if they don't do something the beetles won't have a habitat...and neither would some homeowners...

Joe,

Hope you and Dee and family are safe... far off?  Perhaps you will have waterfront property in 20 years?

Wow!  I saw about this on the TV news the other night.  Didn't realise it was down by you Joe.  Scary for the poor folks up there.

Joe, is about 500 years from being beach front property.   I didn't realize the girl killed was in your neighborhood, I thought it was further up the coast by the power plant.  Some of those houses are very close to the edge, 60 feet would have been too close for me.

We are about a mile from there, so in about 100 years I'll have beach front property

Well, the dates are now April 29 through May 2.  It's 4 days since there seems to be a lot of interest on this meet.   Sorry to those who booked flights and scheduled vacations.  This is firm since the following weekend is Mothers day and we have other plans that weekend.  Check your calendars and we'll see you this April.  I'll be sending a PM to all the attendees so everyone knows about the date change.

The only thing is those who are staying multiple days.  We'll need to figure out the logistics of food, drink etc for the extra day.  Normally only about 7 or 8 stay all three days so it not too difficult.
