The Calvert Cliffs power plant near Lusby, Md., is high on the Department of Energy's list of projects that could receive federal loan guarantees. The plant's operator, Constellation Energy, wants to add a 1,600-megawatt nuclear reactor to the existing plant.

Will you be changing your username to "DeepBlueGlowingGXP" now?

I spent the last 22 years of my working life in the Nuclear power industry. It is the safest industry in the U.S. Now if there was a refinery within 3.5 miles you would have something to worry about.

DickW,

Completely agree.  The problem is, WHEN there is a disaster, it is a million times more destructive than other forms of energy production.  The trick is in the prevention.  I live near the boobs of Camp Pendleton.  I love the power they produce and use it daily.  I still have a secret escape route planned...

Anybody who has been out here and driven past will understand the odd name.  For those who don't, see here:

I recognized those double DD's at San Onofre right away, just north of Oceanside. I'm pretty sure that the wind chill is always chilly up there. But hey, I figure if the Beach Boys sang about this beach it can't be all bad. Last summer while driving past them, I asked my Russian girlfriend what she thought of our Amerikanski bolshoi grood. (Big American Boobs :usa:) In typical Russian woman fashion...she wasn't too impressed by either the boobs...or the question.....   The moral: never ask a woman her opinion about big boobs other then hers..... :idk:
