Kerrville '09 Run
« on: January 01, 2009, 01:50:11 PM »
Kerrville '09 will be February 20th-22nd

This year's Kerrvile Run will be on Saturday, 21 February. The Hill Country offers some of the best roads in Texas for a cruise. This is great run for the twistie folks out there. It's a big drive, about 350 miles. This is about the roads and we'll be driving ALL day with stops for bio breaks and gas only. No sit down lunch. I'm moving it up in the year to try lessen the number of Investment Banker Bikers we have deal with. A lot of them are kinda slow on the whole "Share the Road" concept.

The rooms will be at the Whitten Inn (830.896.1511)for $62 per night. Ask for the SWSC rate, if you're given anything other than $62, Amanda is our contact. I've got 10 rooms blocked, but they'll honor any above that number and that price is good through 22 January. I didn't know how many of the South Texas folks will be in a position to make the trip after Ike, so I didn't reserve more rooms.

This is a very technical course and we'll be up on the edge of the envelope for a large portion of the day. Everyone drives to their own comfort level and no one gets left behind. Radios are mandatory. Please don't show up without a radio or without arrangements for borrowing one. Communications are vital to ensure a safe trip for everyone. We'll divide into groups according to how hard you want to go so everyone has a good run.

For the North Texas area folks, we'll meet in the Albertson's parking lot on the corner of 377 and 820, 20 February, at 9:45 for the drive down 281. Lunch along the way at the Country Kitchen (spelled with a "C", always a good sign) in Lampasas, with a winery stop in Marble Falls. Raspberry Champagne-very yummy. I need how many in your car and what group (Fast or Not So Fast) you want to be in.

OK. Now that the Holiday Madness™ is over, it's time to start getting your head right with twisties. Hope to see y'all there.

Here be the schedule:
Friday, 20 Feb
6pm - Dinner at Acapulco, 1718 Sidney Baker (Hwy 16)
Medina Moonlight drive after dinner
Saturday, 21 Feb
8:30am - Mandatory Briefing in the Whitten Inn Lobby. No brief-No run

Sunday, 22 Feb

*Pre-Vacation Bump*
We're heading to the House O' Mouse, tomorrow, and will be quasi out of pocket for the week. Just a reminder that the group rate at the Whitten ends the 22nd, so if you haven't made your reservations yet, you may want to get on it.
For the n00bs; Prior to the run, top off your gas tank, empty the other tank, have your Slim Jims and Depends at the ready, make sure your oil is FULL and check your COLD tire pressure. I use 35 psi for the front and 33 for the rear. Later.

Kerrville is 3 weeks out. Had to make a change for dinner on Saturday, the JO Steakhouse closed and K'ville is a little limited when you get to 50+ people. So, we will be going to the Big Texas Inn, 2105 Sidney Baker at 5:45. Prices range from $10-30. I talked to their events guy and we'll prolly wind up staying there next year because of the package deals they have for car and Investment Banker Biker clubs. If you're on the fence about coming, I need you to unfence so I can get the numbers firmed up for the food unit distribution points...
