2010 NASSM Autocross Registration - NOW OPEN!
« on: April 13, 2010, 10:19:58 PM »
It is my pleasure to announce that the 2010 NASSM Autocross is now open for registration.

Date: June 12th, 2010
Location: Canton, OH (will we depart from the hotel as a group)
Time: ~8:00 AM departure - arrival back in time for Hall of Fame banquet
Cost: $25 for valid SCCA members, $35 for non members

This event is being coordinated by the NE Ohio SCCA club.

Where to register you ask:

There are TWO registrations you must go through.  Sorry about this... but it's the way it's working out.

First - NASSM website, to sign up and pay.

NASSM 2010 - Canton Ohio - June 10-13 2010

Second - MyAutoEvents, to register for the event.
NASSM 2010 / Neohio Solo Event

Unless you already are signed up on MyAutoEvents you will need to register on the site.  The site (MyAutoEvents) is used commonly around the country for various road racing / autocross events.  It is likely that your local SCCA club uses this site for registration as well, so once you get hooked you'll be all set to race when you get home.  This site DOES NOT SPAM your inbox, please feel no hesitation to sign up on their site in order to participate in our autocross.  You could always delete your account after NASSM if you so desire.

Classes:

Allowed Stock Modifications: BS (GXP / Redline), CS (NA engine)

Any wheel, any shock / coilover, any brake pads, non-stock *rear* swaybar, Z0K (purchased or converted), any exhaust, K&N airfilter (or equivalent in the stock air box)

Allowed Street Prepared Modifications: BSP (GXP / Redline), CSP (NA engine)

Any engine tune (GMPP, Westers, Trifecta, etc.), non-stock *front* swaybar, non-oem CAT, ProBeam / Rebar, cold air intake (CAI), upgraded brakes (calipers or rotors), non-oem intercooler, non-oem intake/turbo piping, H20/Meth system

Allowed Prepared Modicications: FP (GXP / Redline), DP (NA engine)

DDM Backbone / Tunnel truss, Engine swaps, Turbo upgrade of any kind, supercharger

Once you get to the registration page on MyAutoEvents please fill out all required fields (marked with an *).  Please pay special attention to these three fields:

Car Class:
EVENT PASS CODE:
Participating in PAX class?:

You will pick the Car Class based on your cars modifications from the information provided above.

EVENT PASS CODE: 2010NASSM

PAX Class: NO

This event pass code allows ONLY those with the code to register, and allows all of us to ensure we can sign up and make this a KAPPA Autocross.  This code will be provided to the local SCCA club after May 21st, and they will then be able to fill up the event.  Once that happens I have *NO* ability to make space if the event becomes full.  This is your last warning, if you want to participate you should sign up no later than May 21st!

This event is being created strictly for the use of NASSM members.  However, in order to make the event viable there are a minimum number of vehicles that need to register.  If we can not make the minimum number by May 21, 2010 (the Friday before Memorial Day weekend) the NEOhio SCCA club will open up the event to their own NON KAPPA members and they will be allowed to fill up the event.  If we want to keep this a KAPPA only event, we need people to sign up and sign up early!

I will attempt to follow up on questions that folks have.  I hope to see you all at the autocross!

This message is being posted on multiple forums:

Solsticeforum / Skyroadster / Kappaperformance

If there are other locations this should be posted, please advise.  I monitor Solsticeforum more than the others, and questions might be addressed quicker if followed up on there, via this thread:

The GXP and Redlines should be A-stock...

1) Class names don't matter, as long as "like" cars compete against each other.

2) SCCA reclassed SS, AS, and BS for 2010.  If you look at the 2010 rules:

http://scca.org/documents/Solo_Rules/2010_scca_solo_rules.pdf

Page 159, you'll clearly see that the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline have been moved to BS now.

Actually I wasn't aware that they had reclasses so many cars. Looks like they didn't fix things in B-SP though...

What were their reasons for all this?
2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 Crew Cab, LM7 4L60E (What I traded my Kappa for. I regret nothing.)
2012 Chevy Camaro 2SS RS LS3 TR6060.
2021 Ram 2500 Cummins

I don't understand the reasons... something about trying to be more competitive, but I still feel there are obvious class topping cars still.  The EVO's are hard to beat in BS and BSP.  In BS a well driven Kappa can win, but in BSP... well, the best prepped and driven Kappa's were a fair amount behind at Nationals.

Hope to see you signed up and racing in Canton!

**UPDATE**

The autocross event will now be opened to the general public.  We have fallen short of the numbers we needed to keep it a NASSM only event.

Autocross is on, no changes to cost, no impact except that there will most likely be other cars now there with us.  Hope they can all keep up with us!

Registration remains open at this time, until we max out on space.

Rlhammon

Can they at least keep us in our own classes to compete against?
They do that at my local SCCA every once in a while when a private group comes in.
I did register and am looking forward to it.

U-238
Just accept the change.  It's pointless trying to figure out the SCCA's thought process, although I can tell you
It is driven by sponsorship and money
that's the only why Stock Classes are allowed to run R-Comps
but a freakin Intake bumps you to BSP
Talk about a serious WTF

I believe we could certainly do this, and if we have "others" in our classes we can break them out before we start... it's just a matter of putting them together in the timing system.
