Sun Blockers
« on: May 07, 2010, 09:26:53 AM »
in the GT, the driver's sun blocker has a mirror, while the passenger's doesn't have one.
is that so in all kappas?
if yes, has anyone tried to unscrew the driver's sun blocker and put it in the passenger's side?
are these two the exact same size and will fit one to the other's place?
i believe these only use one torx screw to get attached to their place.

and Kelu, yes, all girls that got into my GT complained about this...

Its the same on the Solstice.

I recall a discussion about this a few years ago.  If i remember correctly, they were not interchangeable due to a fitment issue...

Yes, it's that way in all Kappas. Switching visors from side to side can be done, but they dont sit flush to the molding as they are supposed to.

When the girls complain about it, just tell them they are beautiful. At least thats what i do.

The rumor is that because it was a woman that designed the interior, she only put the mirror in for the driver!  :WTF:?

And yes they won't fit when switched... because  (your going to like this)...  they are... MIRROR-IMAGES of each other!

TomatoSoup  maybe they are MIRROR (NOT)-IMAGES of each other!!
btw, the woman that designed the interior is Greek-American named Vicki Vlachakis (quite typical name around here) !

If I remember correctly, the sun visors (that's what we call them in the States) were sourced from some European GM affiliate (Saab?) that was right hand drive.

So, originally, the mirror was in front of the passenger.

Hadn't heard that, and very much doubt it anyway.  The only right hand drive GM affiliate is Vauxhall (UK) and all their cars are versions of Opels.

I have thought for a long while but have never gotten a chance to try, that a fold down mirror would serve two purposes since these sun blockers are far too shallow for some conditions, haveing an extension would be a great after market mod, having that extension double as a mirror would be brilliant

My first Sky had the visors on the wrong sides from the factory.  I noticed the poor fit one day and had them fixed.  From that point on, I've told any passenger who asked not to worry about it since if they didn't look good enough I wouldn't have let them into my car.

Perris, you must be a midget or something!   :poke:

When I'm sitting in the car and put the sun visor down, it completely blocks my view of the road!  An extender would block my view of the dashboard

I've never used my sun visors....They are called sun glasses and sun screen!

They made them exclusively for Chuck and Elff, and now it looks like Perris might be in the same group.
