Both side Auto-up/down Window Controller?
« on: June 02, 2010, 01:56:40 PM »
Anyone tried one of these? - http://www.amazon.com/Install-Essentials-530T-Window-Automation/dp/tech-data/B0009SUEYA/

Looks pretty promising and from what I've read can be installed inside the driver door to add one-touch auto-up and down to both sides -- though, if you put it in the driver door, you can only do the auto function from the driver side buttons.

An alternative, is to buy two single-window controllers (model 529T) and add one to each side.  But the added expense and complexity is not worth it to me (I am the driver I have control!)

Seeing if there's any experience or interest?  I think I will do this and can write it up if wanted.

Can you still control each window individually?

It is interesting that Best Buy advertises the same thing for $90 including installation.

Yes.  Two different circuits.

I'd pay the extra $40 to NOT have them install it :)

Me too.  I don't know what GM was thinking to put auto only on one side in a convertible and to make it only auto down.

I bought a simular system and it requires a security system to operate it.

Our "locking/arming feature" isn't an actual security system.   I had mine installed and through several conversations with the tech support, the box looks for a special signal from the security system.

Right.  That is an additional "feature" on this box which I was not proposing to use.

Doesn't affect/impact the operation of one-touch up or down from the window buttons though (i.e. you don't need a security system to do this function).

Hey, question here....  Would it be possible to wire that thing up to drop the windows about an inch automatically on unlock and close on lock?

Well, anything's possible :)

But basically, no, not with the factory remote/alarm.  See DeepBlueGXP's post a few up.

With an aftermarket alarm with aux output, you can have it close windows on lock, and a second 'push' will then drop them a couple of inches again, which is close to what you want.  Look for the user manual for the 530t online.  It will show you the functions.
