Lots of "discussion" going on about that on the other two forums at the moment. I believe one way or another there will be Nationals next year :)

DDM Works was announced at Canton as hosting the next Nationals June 11-18 next year.  This was to include Minis, hot rods, Kappas etc...

Not that I wouldn't love going to DDM next year for a get together but it includes any/all types of cars and to me it's just not the same if it isn't just for Kappas...

I have to agree Joe, if you are going to called a National meet it has to be for the Kappa cars.
I am sure that DDM would like to see LNF\LE5 equipped cars which would go with a lot of what they provide as a vendor to that community of engines.
That would include the HHR SS, the Cobalt SS........
Solstice GXP 2007.

And I believe with all the controversy (it being done in "secret", not just Kappas, being held at a vendor location, etc...) over on the BB, this has been canceled... The front runner now seems to be TX.

Just so you have it all straight, It was not DDM hosting but High Country Solstice Sky Club and it was not replacing the National Solstice and Sky meet, It was a new event, that was to be PERFORMANCE AND MODS, we put it in June for next year because it was the best time for the use of the shop, there was nothing on the books in June.I WAS HOPING TO KEEP EVENTS ALIVE AND HOPE THAT SOMEONE WOULD STEP UP AND HOST A KAPPA NATIONAL and we could just move ours.
So I had said it would not be a problem to move it but I didn't want it to go later in the summer and if it went to early I did not want it to conflict with the Maryland Mod Meet. The idea was to have an event where it is in the same place every year just like the Maryland one is...only this would be bigger and longer over a week, coming in on Saturday to the following Saturday. All the vendors would be inside and under one roof. We were planning Auto Cross, Dyno Wars, events at the drag strip and race track. Also with 2-4 hour runs up in the mountains. No banquet dinners, tons of restaurants within a few miles, hotel on the corner. No registration fees and the only thing you would have had to sign up for was what vendor and what work you wanted done. This would give everyone more time to have Mods installed by vendors or upgrades done and still get out and have fun with all the other events. We already had several vendors set up to come.  The Mini's offered to come and take us out on some of their great SC runs and the shop next store has all classic cars and we thought it would be great to have a car show with all their hot rod people. This past Nationals our Auto Cross was with other cars but also kept separate which is what this would have been.
What I want you to see is this is to keep us having vendors, but also, most of you have mods on your cars,,,,,could you not see an event like this..happening every year...South Carolina has not bad weather and a longer season. DDM offered their shop because it is huge and would hold lots of vendors and it was to keep our Kappa people happy.

I have gotten tons of emails, Pm's and text messages wanting it not to be cancelled. Most people see the benefit of having a new event, the reason it was called a National Performance and Mod meet was it was offered to all states including Canada.....and what the heck...ship Kelu over here with his car!!!! I hope this puts things into perspective for all of you. It was out of keeping events going and keeping us all together. I must say I had the best time wandering around the vendors and seeing so many happy people....damn there are some mighty fine looking Kappa's out there. I progressed to a new stubby antenna at the meet LOL LOL Super Charger here I come.....

I thought (and still think) it was an awesome idea. I just think that it was misinterpreted by many originally (myself included).

I don't think it should have been canceled, just moved to a new date :).  South Carolina is WAY closer for me to drive to than Texas!  There are only so many pee breaks a person can take before it gets really annoying!

COME ON KELU, WE COULD JUST SHIP YA HERE!!!!

Chili,
As soon as it was announced at a vendor's site, I saw nothing but trouble.  It doesn't matter that DDM (yes I am predudice) is one of our best vendors, other people (maybe even vendors) would see this as a special advantage for them.  Doesn't matter that they offered space to other vendors and those vendors are on board.  It is just the way people in the US of A are, suspecious of everything one and thing.

Well now that there is clarification to the info, I see no reason not to have this on the East coast.

And, they decide to move Nationals 1500 miles further away from me.  Texas was fine with me!  Now we have to go to sweat box SC.  Nice.

I think the next nationals will be in Austin Texas.  We don't normally make trips out that far but I have family in Dallas so we'll be attending.

I wish I could get a national meet closer than 1000 miles to me.  Looks like the Texas one comes in at 1250.  How about the Southeast people?  We go from Colorado to Ohio then back to the west, almost even with Colorado.  Isn't it hot in Texas in June?

You call Texas the "west"? Closest nationals that has been to me is Las Vegas @ 1100 miles as well... At least you guys have stuff goin on all the time back east.

Yamatr3,

Plan the next one on Key Biscayne!  We could get some really great photo ops!

SA,

Hawaii sounds good for the 2013 National.  The bridge should be done by then!

Liquid,

You can host the first "International" up in BC!  The weather there in June should be great!

I'd host, but nobody ever wants to come to San Diego and the weather here is sometimes partly cloudy in July.

it's 1600 miles from So. MD to Austin
1200 from San Diego
2200 from Northern Washington state
1800 from central NY

I think this is pretty much centralized.  I spoke with my sister last night and she said Austin is a beautiful mountainous area.

If the event is held M-F I'll make it as it will take a Looooong Drive to get there.
I'd like to take 2 days to make it with a break mid way
