I picked up the GXP-RCD system and a hi flow cat last year and had it installed at the Welland location of Solo Performance. I loved the look, the performance and the sound of the new system. The problem that I was having however was with the neighbours, specifically one across the street that was woken up before 6:00 in the morning when I was on the way to work. They mentioned several time that the rumble that I loved was waking them up and as everyone knows, happy neighbours are good neighbours.

I felt that I had to do something to keep the peace.

I contacted Jeff at Solo Performance in Mississauga and he suggested that I get the dual resonators installed that some others have put on their systems. I drove to Mississauga yesterday and Ray at the Solo store installed them in no time. The cost was less than I thought it would have been and the sweet sound it still there. Mellower than before but still had that aggressive note.

Met Jeff's son at the Solo store as well. Cam came over to say hi and we talked about the car a bit but he had work to do so we couldn't talk long. No one had to tell me that he was Jeff's boy. He may be a little taller than Jeff but talk about a chip off the old block, he's a spitten image of his dad. Cam is a great kid.

The drive home was sweet and I still find it hard to believe at times, the great customer service that Solo offers. Ray showed me around while I was there as he did last time I was there and they are expanding again. They are busy as heck and Ray said that they must be doing SOMETHING right. I said that they are, great customer service combined with the fantastic product they have is a winning combination.

What's not to like!

Thanks again Jeff for everything that you've done for the community.

That's why Solo Performance are one of the knights of Kappa round table vendors.

I just spoke once with Jeff on the phone when I installed my exhaust but it was great to have someone to answer to a simple question, saved me a lot of time and stress.

Bob happens to have any pictures? Would be great to see the new mod of the exhaust.

I plan on cross weighting the car this week (just to be sure) and I'll take some shots then. BTW, I concur - Jeff (and the SP bunch) is simply top notch.

Sly,
I am very interested in what you have done.  How about a progress report down the line.  I have the SQR2 (na version of the same exhaust) with a header and high flow cat.  In the begining it was great but Stage III has made it louder.  I have installed sound deadning, but going through the mountains on the way to Ohio, wife was wearing ear plugs, which is never a good sign.

I will John. Your car as it's a 2.4 with a SC would behave differently than a car with the turbo. Jeff would know better than I though.

Pictures? Although when SOB may be able to get better pictures from below, (Thanks Bob) here are pictures from the side and from the rear. The resonators are welded in on either side of the rear end.

Sort of cobbled together with what I had laying around. Didn't weld it as I want to maintain the option of changing it around.

It's been a week and a half and all is well. I would have to say that the difference in the sound of the car from what it was before to what it is now would be a 10 to 15 percent decrease in the sound.

I would think that this is what the car probably would have sounded like if I had the Mach instead of the Mach shorty muffler. My wife noticed the difference in the sound right away and that alone was worth the price of admission.   :yay:

I had a similar issue with mine , had the mach exhaust with a  S/C and after driving it thru the year last year wanted to tone it down just a bit.  Jeff suggested two resonators , one on each side.  Had them installed in April and really happy with it now. At the price I am pretty sure Jeff didn't make any money on it, just great customer service.  Really pleased with the sound and the tone now. I really like the look of the mach exhaust with Norm's diffusor valance but just became irritated by the noise. The resonator's are completely flow thru, really nice stainless steel and did not impact performance at all, just gave me about a 25-30% quieter ride.  You can't seem then in the picture, they cut the exhaust a foot or so back of the tips and installed them inline. I Photo shopped Solo onto the plate.

Hope you have a great time! I agree with the last statement also. Have a hi-flow cat on mine from Solo and couldn't be happier.

I don't have anything from them, but I still think they are great!

I do have a spare stock exhaust hanging in my garage though... thinking of tweaking it a little....  I am sure that the stock plumbing is not the issue, as it seems as if most of the gains of a new exhaust are from a CAT replacement or deletion.  Think I might just cut out the muffler and weld in some pipe and then bolt it up and see how it sounds.

back on topic here- someday, I would love a high flow cat.  Down the road...
