Dual Handbrake master cilynder
« on: July 04, 2010, 06:34:44 PM »
Hi!

Due to the Front-to-rear conversion (front brakes fitted on rear axle) I am going to fit a dual master cylinder handbrake to my car.

I've seen the ABS module with the brake pipes (FL FR RL RR). I am going to take braided hoses from the RL and RR ports to the dual cylinder handbrake and then to each caliper.

This configuration will allow to run ABS and TCS/ESP with no problems at all and will give me the ability to lock the rear axle whenever I like.

This is the handbrake I want to fit (I will mantain the stock lever making some adaptations):

Solo + Magnaflow 3" exhaust
OZ Ultraleggera 19"
Rotora 4p front
Brembo 4p rear
LV Brace
Custom Backbone (1/2")

How is the setup during ABS engagement?

The twin master cylinders do nothing to the circuit while not operating them...

So it makes nothing to the ABS.

I'll catch you now.

While operating the dual master cylinders the ABS won't work (lock rear axle) beacause it's made to work with the middle pedal pressed (brake sensor, brake booster, abs module...).

It will see a lock, but it will do nothing. Just like when you go with the ECS disabled (I've never tried it enabled) and make a hard reduction when it rains, it locks, ABS does nothing.

I was wondering what you thought of the front calipers on the rear? Any side effects and how is the operation?

The parking brake already controls the rear brakes.  Perhaps you need something for the front if you are drifting or drag racing.

It's easy. Just buy 2 front knuckles and fit them on rear. Everything fits perfect. You have to install front right caliper on rear left and viceversa.

Deepblugxp, I don't have mechanical e-brake calipers right now. Front calipers haven't this mechanism.

The improvement in braking is awesome, much more than the 330x30 4pot in front, no side effects, and I can advise everybody to do this, it's cheap and the brake improvement is enormous but it's not the topic right now.

Do you have a thread about your front to rear brake swap? I want more info on it but don't wanna pollute this thread.
