Corning NY

Thanks DBG!

It’s only 370 miles away from me! 5 hrs 40 mins. If I boost at 44 psi....I might be able to do it in 5 hrs and 38 mins 🤣

Welp...it’s a wrap.

Very first successful Saturn SKY Redline with compound turbos (gt2860rs & gt4294r turbos).

Produced 566whp & 520wtq

Boost transient response is excellent & provides wide power band.
Spools 20+ psi by 3000 rpm

Here’s a video of the dyno run

But the topic says 800 HP  :poke:

This is still a pretty cool build and I have enjoyed following it for a few years.  Now it's time to go drive it and remember why you bought a Kappa!

Maybe later on lol.

My tuner is moving out of state in a few weeks from NH to Ohio. :(
He’s bought a drag strip there that’s for sake & will be his primary business.

He doesn’t wana push it and not comfortable. He doesn’t wana blow a head gasket or something since he will not have time to fix it, then I’ll be stuck again for years without driving the car :(

Plus, my supertech 78lb springs are not strong enough to prevent valve float which is one of the reasons why by 5800rpm, it’s no longer making power :(
He thinks I may need 100lb springs to handle 50psi or more & no valve float.
That will need custom springs which I don’t have any more money & time .

566whp x .18% drivetrain loss = 668 crank hp is not bad at all :)

I wana get 800 crank hp, but oh well.

Time to enjoy my car 🚗

Yea, enjoy it now.
It was a lofty goal, and while you did not quite reach it, it's 100% unique and still super impressive.
and the title does not say WHP.
So.... you are damn close!!!

Have fun with it, drive it, take it to some car gatherings and also remember you have a great Wife, kids and home as well.
So much win in your life.  This is just one extra bonus

Thank you!

Yeah...720 crank is not bad!

And yeah.....800hp is the goal....not 800whp
or just go on a dynojet and set it to std correction.....to just prove a point that I made 800 hp

I actually saw that supertech has 94lb valve springs for our cars....hahaha!

That will solve all of my "valve float" concerns.............but I've heard that the next issue will be the lash adjusters will collapse when paired with "stiffer springs" and must get solid ones.   Some say the lash adjusters will be fine...some don't.  So who knows.

Well.....I will enjoy my car right now for a year or so.    Then, if I decide to go for more power, I'll ship my car to OH where my tuner is relocating.    Then we can move forward.

So we'll see....

I was just browsing the ecotec build book and it had two spring load specs, one with the stock seat and one with the stock seat + a ferrea seat which increases the seat pressure.  There was no mention of coil bind clearance, so it made me wonder if extreme performance OHV engines would benefit from a controlled coil bind clearance.  When I was at PAC racing springs, we recommended to run a 0.060" clearance here with drag springs and even LS beehives. The logic is to dampen the spring when the coils are "excited" near it's natural frequency, near coil bind the coils are constrained and harmonic frequency increases.
