big difference between block and engine

How much did the Ray Bates race block cost, what size pistons 88mm? What crank shaft are you using and what will your engine liter size be with your mods. I'm excited about your build,so keep us updated

hello thank you.

how's your engine build and tuning going?

before, I was planning to do the BTF stroker kit to have around 2.4 liter using LE5 crankshaft (98mm stroke) with 88mm pistons.

but I changed my mind, and stayed with (stock specs).....86mm wiseco pistons, k1 rods, and LNF crankshaft instead.........since I am going compound turbo set-up.

No need for the monster torque from the BTF stroker kit :)

I rather have a higher rev engine that my 2 liter will be able to provide........

and LNF crankshaft (forged steel) is stronger than the LE5 (cast nodular iron)

Agree the LNF crank is strong enough. Make sure the race block will work with that crank . Have you talked to Ray Bates about your build, super nice guy and a ecotec guru. I would be surprised if the bore is not 88mm on his race block. If your going high revs you will need a set of neutral balance shafts from GM high performance parts, a heavier spring for the chain tensioner[Bates], billet oil pump gears[Bates] and I know your getting better valve springs. My build is complete except for installation of 5457 pte turbo and 3'' exhaust system which will be installed after my Labor day race @ milwaukee mile

yes, I have the chain tensioner and oil pump gears from BATES :)    All possible engine internals and tranny stuff will be cryo-treated as well.......

billet oil pump gears, will be very helpful especially if somebody has a 2-step....

We talked for hours 3-4 months ago....about my engine build.   He is very interested in the build....and I also told him that I'll not push it much.  Probably 600whp tops.   He said that the block will have no problems handling it.....and will ask for more.

I sent him all engine internals such as k1 rods and 86mm wiseco pistons.  He provided the sleeves, the bare block, and the labor :)
So, I'm definite that its only 86mm bore.

And yes, those balance shafts are also included in my build.

Bates already balanced everything...and everything works fine.   I actually received the race block for about 2 months now.  Waiting to be installed with the head :)

Not using Jessel (sp?) .........stuff like you!  They are bit pricey for me :)

oh so you're using 5457 pte turbo, huh?  Good choice of turbo!  that 3" exhaust system is customized?
I wonder what the spool characteristics that turbo will give to an LNF engine?   You must be excited to see how much more powerful your engine will be after everyting .....
