MAP sensor goes bad again!!
« on: September 18, 2010, 01:43:32 AM »
I have a 2007 GXP with Westers tune also. It throws a MAP sensor code every summer at least once. Is there any permanent fix for this issue?
Is it because of the Westers tune?
I got my tune in 2007,, should I send it back for an upgrade/update?
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks Steven Mapes

akgofast, a friend with 2007 GT and Trifecta, also has this issue without having the maximum power that the rest 08 and 09 Trifectas have.
for the moment, he ordered a new MAP to see if anything will change

I am using the K=N air filter. It has been professionaly cleaned. Over oiling is not the problem. (I hope)

I just started getting a P0106 code.  First stop for me, solder the pigtails.

Didn't know you could actually get them Professionally cleaned?  Who Professionally cleaned it?
Anyone could say they Professionally cleaned it but as far as I know there is no such thing.
In addition what did they charge maybe I should be into that business.
I lightly rise the filter from the back side then I spray very liberally the detergent the kit comes with from the bottom and top sideand let it set aside for about 15 min so it can soak in and start removing and lifting the dirt.  Then I rinse the filter from the bottom side with a med flow or water.  I repeat if really dirty and let air dry for 24hrs before I even attempt to re-oil the filter.  Once totally dry I spray on a light film of oil from a foot away ONE PASS ONLY.  The filter that may look patchy but I don't go over it again at least right now.  I usually let the oil wick into the cotton for at least 8hrs and then if there are white spots I just spray those spots from 6 inches away and that's it.  Never had a problem with oil on a MAF yet on 3 cars and 2 trucks and filterer's fine and repeat once a year.   If that's not professioanlly cleaned Im not sure what is unless I use Woolite instead.

simple green works very well------suggested by a pro racer. I'm on my 3rd MAP sensor from over oiling the filter-------lesson learned--- I think.

Gentle people, The MAP sensor is not the MAF sensor. The pigtail solderirng was gonna be the next thing that is tried. The vehicle is almost ready to be put down for her winter nap. New sensor, clean oil, full tank with stabilizer, etc. etc..
Thank all for replying to my post with your suggestions and experience for the MAF sensor and air filter.
I did chat with a tech at Westers and he said that the tune had no effect on the high/low voltage code from the MAP sensor. I was leaning towards a after market sensor of some sort. Ah well,, next summer I guess..

Being a once a year code fart I doubt its a self repairing sensor.I agree it may well be just a wimpy connecter or poor wire crimp issue.
