-4AN or -6AN line, how do I find out?
« on: October 27, 2010, 02:22:52 PM »
I'm trying to figure out what type of nitrous hose I have -4AN or -6AN.

I want to order a bottle heater which comes with a pressure sensor and a pressure gauge. There are 2 distinct products based on the line of the nitrous system:
a) http://www.nitrousexpress.com/product-details.php?id=320
b) http://www.nitrousexpress.com/product-details.php?id=318
I searched and read on the web, 4AN = 1/16" and 6AN = 3/8" but my problem is that those are referring to the interior of the hose, right?

I have braided hoses with nuts at the ends and I can't measure the interior diameter and dunno which product I should order, ordering a wrong diameter will be PITA for me because I have to wait another 2-4 weeks to have a different part to match the system.

Can anyone help me out to figure out a method to identify my hose?

Thank you in advance.

AN measurements are in 1/16" increments, so a -4AN is 4/16 or 1/4" and a -6AN is 6/16" or 3/8". As for finding out what you have, measure the outside diameter of the hose and let me know what it is and I can measure against the lines we have here. All the nitrous stuff we have here though uses -4AN fittings for the supply lines to the solenoids.

Also what Nitrous Kit are you using?

Hope that helps,
Dave

I'm using a NX system, I have solenoids for direct port, biggest from NX and single wet port before throttle body (I can't remember the model of the ofgger). I have also a DynoTune Purge kit but didn't installed yet.

Unless the fittings are different then the ones that I have here at home...
AN-4 will use a 9/16 wrench
AN-6 will use an 11/16 wrench

Sometimes the fittings will have a number on them too like MS24590 followed by another number which is usually the size of the fitting/tube.

The top fitting is a -6 the bottom one is a -3 the -4 that I have was attached to something and I wasn't going to be able to bring it inside and take a picture of it.

I measured the
- exterior of the line: 9.5 mm -> 0.375 (3/8)
- female nut (on the line side) which connects the line to the bottle: M15 -> 0.563 (9/16)

My conversions are correct?

So these confirm that I have -4AN line?
