GMPP -> Stock Tune Reflash @ Dealer
« on: November 22, 2010, 06:43:55 PM »
So I need to take my car back to stock for autox classing purposes.  It came with the GMPP tune already on it.  I checked tis2web to see what ECU Operating System they had on record for my VIN, and it's 12633831, which matches up to the GMPP tune for 2009 as I would have expected.  What I'm wondering is this: how do I get the stock tune reflashed onto another ECU (intend to keep the GMPP ECU and sell), if the dealer shows the GMPP tune associated with my VIN?  Is this something they can override at the dealership level (I'm guessing not), or do they need to escalate and inform GM that my GMPP tune is being uninstalled, and to update their records back to the stock ECU O/S?  If anybody out there has done this, please get in touch with me.  I want to make sure I don't waste my or the dealer's time trying to figure out who they need to talk to in facilitating this.

You have different sensors as well.  It is a factory option so why do you have to revert back?

i'm aware of the sensors.  they're causing me a big headache with engine hesitation @ WOT methinks right now with the horrid crimped butt connectors they used.  once i get the stock pigtails, sensors, and stock tune reflashed, they're getting cut off.
as far as legality, big difference between factory and dealer installed options.  Z0K fsb/rsb/crossmember/springs = factory option, ok for stock autox.  GMPP tune/sensors = dealer installed option, not ok for stock autox.  if there wasn't an RPO code to build the car on the factory floor (or port installed), it's not legal.

i am guessing that although the car is upgraded to gmpp, the stock tune (260 hp) for you vin must be available at GM. i suppose the only solution is to find an authorised dealer and tell them to have GM send them a stock tune (260 hp) for your vin
other solution (and you will be one of a kind) find a tuner and tell him to make you a stock like tune for your car

Westers Garage can help you get a 09 ECM with a stock program if you need it.  Click the link on the right and give Lyndon a call.
