Custom upgraded IC
« on: December 09, 2010, 12:17:28 PM »
On Tuesday, i installed my new custom made upgraded IC. Yesterday kagem installed his on the same garage (3 of us made a group buy from the shop).
total cost was 580 euros ($765) and included big IC, silicone couplers where needed, 3'' pipe to and from IC and installation.
IC is tested on 7 bar

i was surprised Kelu didn't ask for any pics, so i have to do  it on my own....

 :ttiwwp:

well, here they are.
White GT is Kagem's, black is mine. Kagem was kind enough to take the pics...

no, not EDS. Mine and Kagem's were custom made by a local shop in Athens, called Hercules.
EDS is way more expensive. FYI, EDS IC may be real good (i have no experience with it) but you should bare in mind that it is not made by EDS, but from some other company that sells it to EDS. and you have to wait 2-3 weeks after you have placed your order for it to be produced.
3'' inlets, were constructed because we wanted them this way. we could have made them smaller, but i suppose we went all the way with big ones..

Shiny, to be honest, i can not tell, because i'm in the proccess of tuning the big wheel, so i flash a new tune every other day. so, i can not compare before and after, as my data alter with every tune.
i take a big IC mod, not so much a mod for power, but rather longer lasting power (i.e. in continuous races) and as a safety feature, to make sure that truly cold air gets in my engine.
i totally recommend an IC upgrade

Thanks guys for your kind words! I would consider it a good deal indeed, and a must mod for all tuned kappas. After i installed my dp some months ago i noticed some lag in the low rpm range, but Vince told me i did not need an updated tune for that, neither would i need one for a 3'' exhaust or an ic. So after i did all these mods plus the ic, the boost is surprisingly there where it was before! Though, i felt a little more lag in the low rpm range, but the boost is still high. I expected after i installed the exhaust and ic that the boost would drop and that i would need another tune for those, but it seems it's fine. Maybe the tune learns automatically to cooperate with the new parts i suppose, anyone with the same experience would be nice to help me out understand....

my CUSTOM ic pipes hit the hood when it is closed... not big time but still, they do hit it...  :gaah:
i have put on the inside of my hood, some of that stuff that we put on the legs of a chair so as not to scrath it, but i must fix it so that it doesn't make any noise or damage.
bad thing is that i have to take some time off from my job and drive to the other end of the city for that.. :banghead:
stupid Greek "custom" ic makers....  :censor:

i am wondering if this could be the "tuning" noise i was hearing and thought was from my exhaust

Arabas, don't feel bad, the same thing has happened to people here that purchased custom hoods. Do I even need to mention the name of the company that supplied that hood???  You'll have it all resolved soon :)

No silly!    Someone that bought the RK hood the same time I did was having problems installing the RK hood with their intercooler pipes. I am not sure if they have resolved the problem or not.

Awww Snuggles, I would never use my pet name for you so publicly by publishing it on the forum.

DMike - that really sucks - do you think by posting your problem anyone would be able to offer up suggestions/resolutions?

Oooooppppsss just realized I am majorly highjacking this thread. DMike - start a thread maybe someone can offer suggestions?
