Move it to the deep end or the LSM board and then it is restriced from the general public.  Change your name to GJ and you'll be in the clear even if the police do find it.

It is a possible, just not sure if it the right answer right now.

What if you just updated your ETA periodically along the way? Since it's really just a guestimate I doubt they'd be able to bust you for speeding based on that.

This is going to be fun!

We will have to finalize plans next month and do a test run for data tracking.

Wimp

WOW! Hard core!

Just thinking about my checkbook and the NY/NJ/DE/MD state police... Never know if they have the ability to look into these "programs" and use them to track a potential "target". :worms:

Critter, you know how that feels right??? Like a "target"?  :idk: :poke:

This is going to be fun!

We will have to finalize plans next month and do a test run for data tracking.

I fully plan on taking this CHALLENGE seriously, and will update the KP Forum accordingly, just not while being actively "tracked". I will gladly work with another member via phone or other means to keep the forum updated of my position by State & Mile Marker, and Miles left in trip, just no mention of speed.

I have no intention of coming down I-95, I have my own way to get get to Joe's... I am a Submariner after all, and he lives VERY NEAR water. :usa:

TOP GEAR CHALLENGE :

Rule 231.45:
CT Solstice must travel by car the entire way, using marked or unmarked roads, trails, bridges or other rights of way.  he may not load his car on any other vessel for transport.  Including: high speed rail, Hydrofoil, canal boat, Ferrari transport, or any other means of not actually driving.

CT - just keep in mind what happens to people who cheat in a top gear challenge!

Wow, you guys are a tough crowd. I was going to suggest that perhaps he should consider actually following the posted speed limit, just as I always do :D

So let me understand this? You cannot stop for two ten minute potty/gas fillup breaks but now get to impose rules on me? Or leave the parentals with the prerequisite checkin time at the airport?

I should be able to make up time however I can. Flying down the road or a transport plane is the same. I said this is a Challenge, not an impossibility. I will be "driving" the whole time. Didn't say what I would be driving... plane, train, or automobile, it is still driving.

And you do not drive a plane, you fly it.  :slap:  :poke:
Except for when you are on the ground then you taxi it, and depending on the plane it can be like driving, on large planes there is a little steering wheel called a tiller.

I would assume one would need to know how to drive, to be able to make a broad statement such as that. :slap:

:poke: :slap:For the record you do not drive a train, you operate it. And you do not drive a plane, you fly it.  :slap:  :poke:

What do you do with a submarine?  I'd think that's his second best mode of transport.  As you guys have stated, he's an underwater fella.  He certainly can't fly a plane!  As for a train, my pet butterfly could "operate" a train.  It's all done from some hole in the wall in upstate nowhere.

CT- thanks for havin fun with this!  It should be quite close if you don't hit too much traffic or I don't miss a flight.  If all goes smooth for both of us.

Speaking of that, if it's a tie, does the forum buy us both dinner for providing the entertainment?  Of course, we'd NEVER agree to make that happen... would we?

IIRC you do actually do "drive" a sub though. And I think the controls are somwhat similar to an aircraft.

Actually the real 'driver' of a sub never touches a control and he 'cons' it. The helmsman controls the rudders and planes on orders from the conning officer.  There may also be a trottleman, a navigator, a sonar man, Officer of the Deck, and what else did I miss Jer?

Typical government BS... it takes 10 ppl just to maneuver a silly toy around the water...

Critter is correct for the most part...

Officer of the Deck (OOD-Conning Officer) gives orders to the Diving Officer on direction and depth to go based on the input from the Navigation Electronics Technician (Nav ET) who is looking at the charts (ocean maps). The Diving Officer tells the Helmsman and Planesman what to do with the steering wheels (stern planes, and rudder) to execute these orders. The OOD also orders Maneuvering (the nuclear trained guys) what speed to make with an Engine Order Telegraph (like in the movies).

Back aft, the Engineering Officer of the Watch (Maneuvering-EOOW) gets speed orders (Bells) from the OOD and orders the Throttleman to make whatever turns or speed ordered. The Throttleman turns the ahead throttles open more or less, which in turn emits more or less steam to the two Main Engines which will in turn spin the screw (propellor).  So in all reality, 3 guys (Helman, Planesman, and Throttleman) control the ship at the direction of the OOD. The rest of the crew is just "support" for those 3 guys. BTW on a side note, those three guys are usually only 18-20 years old... NOW there is something to think about...

All in all it takes 20 forward (non-nuclear) watchstanders and 13 Engineering (nuclear) watchstanders to "drive" a submarine.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

This weekend is my second (of many) "trial" runs from CT to Joes... (Joe, if you hear me pull up on Saturday morning, I am just doing a fly-by)

I ahve done the "speed limit" run and have the worst case scenario, now lets do the FASTEST run. Let's see what Lindsey can really do! GJ, you will know by Monday morning if you really wanna go through with this or not.

You still have time to chicken out and just buy me dinner for being such a stud!!!

It took how many billions to come up with that? - Navy must be unionised :)

Corrected last post. Made it to Lusby in 6 hours. Will need to improve my route slightly to shave off about 30 more minutes.

Figured if I didn't stop for coffee twice I would have made it in 5 and a half hours. Overall the challenge looks like it should be exciting.

Critter,

I've altered the flight path of my DC-57 Plane.  I am going to jump out over the bay right near Joe's house.  I'll be sure to land in the sand so I don't get wet.  We will only have a 5 minute drive to his house.  I'm not sure you'll need 5th gear for that.  I special ordered a swiss cheese parachute to save some time on the way down.  they are supposed to be all the rage right now.  I think they work as well as the cross drilled brake lines we are going to install on your car.
