Clutch question
« on: March 31, 2011, 03:19:37 PM »
a friend of mine needs to have his GT's pressure plate and disk replaced. furthermore it needs the third thing that we replace in this case. in translation, in greek, we call it bearings.
does that make any sense to you?
i am looking for the correct english word (a picture of the item would also help) so as to look for it in ebay or in a vendor and order it. they ask tons of money here for pressure plate-disk-bearings

thx in advance

That would normally be correct but the Kappa doesn't have one.  It uses something call an HTC or something like that.  It is a hydrolic release that fits over the transmission input shaft.

Randy and Dave know the actual name of it, I will email them and ask them to stop by and let you know.

Email sent.

do you know what this is? Is there a need to be changed when you replace the clutch?

Not unless it is leaking.  It is external and can be changed when needed.  That is connected to the clutch pedal and pushes the fluid to the slave cylinder (has a different name) that is located in the bellhousing. and releases the clutch.

It's the clutch master cylinder - the thing that's attached to the clutch pedal and that you compress when you press on the clutch.  That compresses (squeezes) the clutch fluid down the the clutch slave cylinder which opens the clutch.

You only need to replace this if it's broken/leaking, not when you change your clutch.

Priceless!

Apologies, Kagem, your English is infinitely better than my Greek!  But some typos are unconsciously hilarious :)  I think you meant "valuable" (or maybe you didn't?)
