Autocross Schedule D/FW 2011
« on: April 01, 2011, 09:55:47 AM »
I'll be attending my first autocross this year with the BMW club April 9th in Mineral Wells.

Here's some info on the club. Lone Star Chapter BMW CCA
Here's the BMW schedule for the year. Lone Star Chapter BMW CCA

It's only 35 bucks to register for their events, 25 bucks after you join the national BMW club. (yes, it pained me to do so but they only allow you to attend as a guest one time)

To register for an event, you need to setup a free account here. DLB Racing Calendar
Then go to calendar view and look for the "LSCBMW" event on April 9th.
You then click on the picture of a little car in front of a clipboard to be taken to a registration page.
You will need to pay by paypal, and select a number for your car.

You can then put a number on your car with blue painters tape the night before you go, which is what I did the first time,
or you can buy numbers here. iZoom Graphics
I bought this set of 3 numbers in silver. Single Color Track Day Numbers

You can use a loaner helmet if you wish. They will have a few on site.
I went ahead and bought a helmet here. Helmet City
The cheapest one that meets the required Snell M1995 or later is this one, Snell M2005 HJC CL-31 Helmet - Black | Helmet City  which is the one I bought

Most of the events are at Texas Motor Speedway, which is more convenient than Mineral Wells.
I will update this thread every time I run an event with results, and info about the next event.

This is the track that will be setup April 9th.

Well, I'm sorry to let you down. :sorry:

I appear to be a disgrace to the Solstice autocrossing community... :banghead: RESULTS

I could NOT wrap my head around all this course.  It was SERIOUSLY longer than any of the setups I'd run before, and there were a couple of spots I kept dnf'ing on

So here's the deal.  If there is a SERIOUS badazz autocrosser anywhere around D/FW, I will GLADLY pay your entry fee to one of these events!
It's not like anyone was mocking me or anything, but I'd sure like someone to show these guys what a Kappa is capable of in a decent driver's hands.

I can't do the May 14th BMW event, but I'm thinking of doing the S2000 event on May 28th if I can get anyone to go with me. DFW SCHEDULE

Don't they have instructors at the event? Usually there are more than a few people at events more than willing to help people learn the course at the events around here.
2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 Crew Cab, LM7 4L60E (What I traded my Kappa for. I regret nothing.)
2012 Chevy Camaro 2SS RS LS3 TR6060.
2021 Ram 2500 Cummins
2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. 3.6, manual trans.

Yes, they did.

After DNF'ing the first 2 runs, I took an instructor with me and found out I was ignoring the directional cone on the slalom in section 3 and running the slalom on the wrong side.  Then somehow, on run 7, I did it again!  Once the brain sees something a certain way, it's HARD to fix it. At least with my dumb noggin.

I do that alot, miss one directional cone over and over.  The problem is no one tells you until after the fact, so I have developed a new phylosophy.  I'm not racing anyone's time but my own and as long as I drive close to the same course everytime, I still get the benefit of learning how to better control and drive the car.  Everything else is un-important.

At least that is what I tell myself as a cry myself to sleep  :)
