I actually like it,  the KAPPA looks it should have been built that way.  Too angular as a roadster.

Can't wait to get a still capture of the Sky then photoshop it with a solid color to see if it will look good on a street car.

So what do you guys think? Does the coupe top match the Sky?

I don't think I like the spoiler style. It's too Sol. Apart from that... I like it. It would let me run a proper rollbar.

:idk: Where are the humps that gives the characteristics of our Kappa. I prefer a car of this type to have a rag top rather then a hard top (No Top)....

It looks like just any other car with that top. If they came that way I would never have given it a second look. There are a lot of much better overall cars in the same price range if you give up the looks.

I like it.  I'm really happy to see there is still a KAPPA in the Forumula D series.

I'm with Kenny, looks great but it would be much improved if the spoiler were a bit more angular to continue the theme on the Sky.

That being said, I foresee one of these in my future. Marvic the humps do give our cars character but if you install a roll cage then a top like this is a must.

Too bad they don't make roll cage kits for out cars like they do with mustangs...all the planning is what could take the most time.

Top looks great, Roll car kits generally are suboptimal to a custom built. Find someone that fabricates Funny cars/Pro Stock etc. They can do the rollbar. It makes little sense to have some big butt spoiler on a Drift car because of low speeds and you want the rear to brake free. I have a similiar wind splitter on my car. Just like many guys like big tits,I prefer small to medium which don't sag with time. I don't like the looks of the Sky so I bought a the car I like ,a Solstice.  Norm did a great job! That doesn't mean I don't like you guys with Skys,I just know you are probably younger than me and the Solstice has a more vintage sports car look
 vs. modern.

In one interview they specifically talked about the spoiler.
It was actually creating too much down force on the one track so they removed it after the practice.
So it seems to be very specific.

The tracks in formula D vary significantly in speed, length and course.  Its one of the things that makes it fun to watch but at the same time a lot of work for the crews

That's very good news. Means another one should be able to be used.

There are two ridges
:idk: Where are the humps that gives the characteristics of our Kappa. I prefer a car of this type to have a rag top rather then a hard top (No Top)....

Seems like I read somewhere that the ridges (character lines) on the targa were intentionally molded in as a design homage to the humbs.

Had Saturn been allowed to build to build their own fastback version I think it would have would have been much more angular in nature, maybe TTish.

Here's another photo of the Sky Drift coupe from Long Beach.

Looks like they ended up using a different spoiler here. This one looks Nascar style.

Also what's suprising is that the Solstice has a massive wing on it, as do many of the other cars. Maybe they just do it for show?

Oh here's another from Google Images

And about the wing. The sky from 2010 had a big wing on it. I wonder if the coupe top makes a difference

They are not for show. Those spoilers create different degrees of down force and the cars are setup by their teams appropriately to try and maintain very specific traction

Yeah i'm just surprised that the teams running a sky and solstice car would use such different setups in the same race.

So what I'm getting at I guess is, does the coupe top have that much of a difference in aero that it doesn't need as much wing.

The answer is it could.  The smooth top of the coupe could direct more clean air over the smaller spoiler and create the same effect as the less clean air over a much larger spoiler on an open cockpit car.

I think the top looks fantastic. Another good product made by Norm. It flows pretty good with the whole car.

Great point Sol Asylum!  The coupe has a direct advantage with regards to air flow and aerodynamics.  But the much larger spoiler on the open cockpit car gains the same advantage with a larger spoiler.
