b-day present to me , new tune
« on: April 24, 2011, 11:38:03 AM »
so pretty much after getting my tax return back and paying off some huge debts, paying off debt > the car, i finally have some money to start spending on my sol.
im having jack from hplogic tune the car. he holds the record for the the fastest 1/4 nissan gtr and mph. this will be his first lnf engine, but he has a pretty impressive resume and no car he has tuned has ever lost a engine or blown up.
i will do my best to video tape the project from start to finish. i intend to beat the 1/4 fastest stock turbo sky and sol. if anybody knows what the time is please post it up.
btw he will be using hptuners. i will be happy to share logs of the dyno tune to anybody who wants to see it. i will keep you guys posted. im off of work this week so ill b shooting to tune the car this week.
this is the first time in a long time i have felt excited about my sol gxp again. feels good to get back into the scene.
here is jacks most recent work

Sounds like it will be a quick ride! I remember someone posting a 12.9X from one of the other forums. That is the best time I can remember. I think they trapped about 107-108 mph.

slowsol, look forward to your post!  Uh, better get ready for instant gratification, because the smile on your face will be permanent like the one on Jack Nicholson's face in the original BATMAN movie staring Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton.  How Sweet Indeed! :agree:

i already have trifecta so where doing a trifecta hpt over lay
im really hoping for a smoother more linear power band. i want the car to hold the tq better over the whole power band instead of just spiking and just dropping off

Norm, that is a 2.4 with an aftermarket turbo, and probably even faster now that the motor was rebuilt.

I will stick with my low 13's for a stock with bolt on exhaust and intake, plus tune.  No major transplants. :)

It seems traction is a perhaps the limiting factor for our cars. A 3,000 pound car with 340 flywheel HP should theoretically run 12.6X. Of course, this is in a perfect world, but it does show high 12's should be very doable. There is no way I could do it on my current Hankook V12's as the traction just isn't there.

Gearing makes a difference as well, having to shift into 4th is sure to cost us some time.

I think Speedracer69 had his stock turbo auto tranny Sky in the high 12's.
2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 Crew Cab, LM7 4L60E (What I traded my Kappa for. I regret nothing.)
2012 Chevy Camaro 2SS RS LS3 TR6060.
2021 Ram 2500 Cummins
2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. 3.6, manual trans.
