Also if you have the Heat on, you will see higher temps than normal.

I would assume that is true with the AC as well, but I never have taken the time to notice if that's is true.

With my HF cat, my car likes 194F with vent only. 205F with heat on. If you have a stock cat, you will get slightly higher temps than that.

However as Kelu said, anything below 220F is nothing to worry about :)

These newer engines run hotter than older ones and its perfectly normal. This is why many domestic US vehicles (Ford) now use temp gauges with "Hot" and "Cold" rather than physical temperatures

slightly off topic here... with the AC on, i think you can see lower temps, due to the fan working at higher speeds.
i think it is written here somewhere...

The 175 seems low, but 200-210 is fine in traffic

200-210, as Critter said, is perfectly normal in traffic.  I see around 194-198 when driving normally.  When my thermostat went a year ago, I was seeing spikes to 240, and then it would drop right back down to 199.

Another option would be to buy UV dye, detection light & glasses, pour the dye into your coolant, bring the vehicle up to operating temperature and use the UV detection light & glasses to help locate it's origins.  Disconnect your battery or fan, or just be aware it could come on while you're looking.  I've heard they use similar products to locate automotive air-conditioning leaks.

The 175 is low and if the ambient temp is above 30* even lower it should never go that low from 200+.  When it was 15-20 and lower my car with the heat on really never got warmer than 185* even with 30min of driving but as I drove it longer the temp eventially raise to 190*
Yes with the AC on the Temp actually does raise 10-20* (200-210* in my engine)above normal(190-195*) which I thought kind of strange since the fan is at 100% speed but I guess that the compressor does drag the engine quite a bit.

The problem I see is that the car was working about 200F even when idling and now does not. The optimal for cars is working at steady temperatures. Dealer says that the low temp is due to thermostat and the higher one is because of lacking something on the radiator, some kind of valves, does anyone know what the dealer is talking about?

Could be the TSB for adding the one-way valves that are supposed to fix the possibility of getting air-bubbles in the cooling system

It costs about 350$ and I think that it is too much, isn't it?
Can you help me search for it and buy it from the net?

I have the TSB saved as jpg's of the pages (just about readable).  TSB# is TSB 10-06-02-001.  I can send you the images if you PM me your email.

The valves are apparently around $10 each now in the US (they were originally FAR higher) but not sure how much in Greece. Part number 20876185 (you need two of them).  But yes $350 sounds high, even with the labour of partially draining the coolant :)  Note, however, the TSB recommends using the "Vac-n-fill" method of refilling the coolant which requires the vacuum tool.

Here's a thread on the issue,  The TSB text (no pictures) is included on post 14: http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/f24/09-rl-t-stat-sticking-closed-34882/

When changing the thermostat, is there anything that is being changed together? Any gaskets that I should order too?
