« on: June 01, 2011, 03:05:48 PM »
I would like to thank DAVE of WERKS  for supporting my 700hp compound turbo build, by fabricating the FIRST LNF Kappa RACE custom manifold!

Thank you WERKS!!!

This is what the manifold will look like (this is for the 2.4 Kappa):

The manifold has been designed for mid-range and top end power, large turbos will need a manifold like this.  As you will see In the pictures the location of the throttle body is on the forward end of the manifold

Plenum volume is calculated at 300 cubic inches and the velocity stacked runner length is 2” diameter tubing x 5 1/8”

it can handle up to 60psi

if you guys have other questions (price, when it will be released, etc.), pls feel free to contact WERKS.

thanks!

WERKS almost done with my port injection Race Manifold! :)

I'll just have it powdercoated once I receive the unit!

components:
WERKS custom intake manifold w/ port injection
set of 42lb RC injectors
RMR -8an fuel rail, brackets, and bungs

this system will be controlled by Split second software

and a fuel cell will be used (nitrous express SAFE system)

The DI injectors will still be used during daily driving......and the port injection will start spraying during high boost/WOT to make sure we won't run out fuel.

ah yes, the old AIC1

Been around for ever. not to mention this is the basis for the Hahn portfueler.

Let us know how easy it it to tune...

yeah I was deliberating between Mega squirt VS.  Split Second.

both of them have been around for years....and proven dependable.

And I chose Split Second....since it is more "plug and play" compared to mega squirt.

and yeah, I'll update on the tuning

Very cool.  How are they coming up with the 60psi rating?

hey nothing wrong with the AIC1...

Here's a ecotec cavalier that runs pretty much a stock tune (other than timing) and an AIC1 and manifold injection

Hahn Racecraft equiped Cavalier 10.3 @ 140 mph

Very cool.  How are they coming up with the 60psi rating?

they probably pressure tested it to check for leaks in the welds...

yes pressure tested to 60psi.

I'll probably push my compound to 35-40psi only anyways.

and yeah A1C1 is a very cool gadget :)

that Cavalier.....is fast! :)

That is what I was figuring.  It is usually a good idea to de-rate or have a factor of safety on numbers like that.  It could (although I am sure will not) pop at 61psi, and that is before any fatigue.  I just like to know where the numbers come from and how they apply; thanks!

yup..... it's nice to have a unit that will be able to handle 35-40psi easily .....without worrying that intake manifold is about to crack/leak.

awesome! I didnt really look that much, but i was curious if it was possible to squeeze the injectors under the mani. That will make for a completely stealthy install!

Did werks ever decide to make this into a kit? (injectors/rail combo) I think this would intrigue many would think about going this route if they could get a firm price on one/both items.

I'm not sure if you can put injectors underneath.  If they will even fit including the fuel rail.  Might be very tight fit.  Another vendor did it with the stock manifold....but they were only able to fit the set-up....on top .

i know that WERKS did a 2.4 manifold w/ nitrous ports but different settings.

I did a lot of customizations with this manifold to make it look like this.  I provided Dave my own stuff.   Lots of back and forth with Dave...
he was accomodating enough to help me perfect this piece to "what I want".

ah... so when you say "bottom mount" you are just referring to the rail feed rather than the rail placement on the manifold... got ya! Thanks for clarifying that.

I still am curious if you can squeeze it in underneath though.

sorry for the confusion.

yes, the fuel feed line goes underneath the fuel rail....to make it look clean.

and yes, the fuel rail will be top mount! :)

They have a lot of fabrication ability that they don't list on there website.

In other words if you want it, they can build it.

Its something that never made it onto the website. Its not a high demand item BUT we can still do it. These will more then likely become rarities soon as we will probablly discontinue them. We have one actually on our shelf that just needs some finishing. pm me if your interested.

Do note that the drivers side intercooler pipe is not the same as stock and either a shop will have to make one for you or we wil have to make one for you.

As Dave stated it will be going on the site. We do hope to get some more of these on cars becase they perform great. But a lot of power has been made on the stock manifold so everyone tends to think one is never needed. There is however one other plus to this manifold.... Say GOODBYE to the ugly mess on top of the stocker.
