A special thanks to all that worked behind the scenes to help this meet go as well as it did. Among those who deserve  kudos is our own ShiNY, who gathered the email addresses of everyone who signed up to attend and then sent each and everyone an email letting them know what was going on.  She also followed up with thank you's, or 'have you forgotten'  emails.  It was not a 100% participation, but worked out in the end.  For a while we were concerned.

Also a thank you to those who contributed to Joe's anal engine probe, Dee's Cold air intake, and the remainder went to the electricity and water use at the cabin. Most of you went above and beyond, especially some who did not attend and knew they could not.

Some never responded to the emails, there could be several reasons:

1.  You didn't like the people collecting the money
2.  You don't like Joe (understandable but come on it was for Dee too)
3.  You felt your attendance was enough

But I would like to think the real reason you didn't respond or donate is that your email address at the forum is incorrect.  While I can understand that you wouldn't want me to email you (don't worry I will not).  Having a good email address of the forum will help others get in touch with you for events such as this in the future.

All in all it went well, and everyone had a good time and most of the work was done. Some jobs did not for one reason or another.  Unfortunately there is never enough time to accoumplish all the requests for mods.  There is always the next SMMM.

To all who did donate, thank you.  The look on Dee's face when she saw her intake was worth every penny we put in.  When she got it installed the next day, it sounded great!
I don't really care for Joe right now (he omitted me from his thank you thread) so I donated all of my money to Dee and her gift.

SHiNY, you are a logistical genius.  Thanks for taking the time and putting forth the effort to coordinate.  Some of us are idea people, others get things done.  It's a rare breed that can do both.  Thank you.

One last bit of thank yous.  Thank you to those that go to the mod meet and realize how special it is.  Thank you to those that show up, clean up, help out and do more than just take up space.  It isn't as if this event is sponsored by some high dollar company.  NO ONE should be going to this event expecting to be catered to, waited on or otherwise "taken care of."  This is the Barton's house for Pete's sake.

A few specifics:

Cigarettes.  I have no issue with people smoking, but please have some consideration for the following: not everyone smokes! Some people really really dislike smoke.  Do it off in a shady, cool spot where you won't offend other attendees.  Second, and equally important - PICK UP YOUR F'ING CIGI BUTTS!  This is a HUGE pet peeve of the hostess.  Kudo's to GXPsyRose for doing your best to pick up what you could, but you should NEVER have had to do so. Be responsible for yourselves.

Slackers.  I have huge issue with slackers.  Those that attend the meet, reap all the benefits, and do nothing to contribute.  Yes, most people brought a bit of food.  That's great.  How about helping to empty the trash?  Keeping cans and bottles separate from used food items, picking up that napkin that blew away, helping to clean the house, do dishes, clean the cabin... this list of little things one could do to help is endless.  The fact that I have to point them out is disgusting.  Not everyone knows how to work on cars.  Thats fine.  Those of us that do, for the most part, gladly help out where they can.  If you don't do work on your car, offer to help clean the tools for the person that did.  Find the right drawer where the sockets go, take 10 minutes to organize it if it is messy so the next person can find things easier.  DO SOMETHING!

I realize this is not going to be a popular post.  Thats fine.  Think of me what you will.  The reality is, if your offended by this post, you are the reason I wrote it.  If you fall in to any of the negative portions of this post, either clean up your act, or don't show up next year.  If you fall in to the positive portions of this post, please please please continue to be the great people you are.  You are what make this event possible and successful in spite of some folks.

Lastly, if you think these are the opinions of one crazy guy from California who may have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, give this thread a few days and then reread it.  I'd bet you'll see differently.

Gentleman Jack.

Thank you for the thanks, but it really isn't necessary. I know I can't do the manual labor on cars that you guys do, but I can do administrative stuff (I even get paid to do it at work :) ) and errands so I try to help where I can (thanks for driving JimmyBaja even if there are dead bodies in that cooler), which includes bringing drinks, taking pictures, picking up food or organizing the spaghetti dinner.

I made sure to include EVERYONE who was scheduled to attend in the emails (if you didn't receive an email your mailbox is full [IslandHopper] or you have me blocked - you know who you are and now so do I.)  We considered asking other people if they wanted to donate even though they couldn't attend (Arabas), but didn't want anyone to feel obligated so we limited it to attendees only even though Go-N Def was already involved.

I'd like to acknowledge Critterman for selecting Joe's anal engine probe. His reaction of "Oh shit" was priceless. I'd also like to acknowledge Go-N Def for knowing that Dee wanted a CAI. Her smile was infectious, like I said before she was hugging that like a new born baby! Their reactions made everything worth while and made me proud to be part of it :ghug:

So thank you to everyone who attended, to everyone who donated, and everyone who basically made this another amazing event! Maybe next time I can assist by overseeing the live stream because everyone kept asking what was being done. Joe is WAY too busy working on cars but I can relay messages to the workers and report back to the voyeurs ;)

Hopefully I'll see you all next time, even you Kelu! (If you haven't already been told, we miss you :( )

I never received any emails, but I did make a late decision on coming.  Please be sure to include me for next year.

GJ - Every single one of those CIGI butts were mine, sorry about that.  Ohh and every single non-empty beer was mine too.  I promise to quit smoking and drinking by next year.  (lol, I don't drink OR smoke!)  If anyone asked me to do anything, I did it without question or complaint.  Now that I am more familiar with the goings-on, I will be better prepared next year.

And I think I saw 1 LIL NDN work on everyone's car at one point.  Even if it wasn't getting anything done.  The man was everywhere!

You were definitely a last minute add on. I started sending emails at the beginning of March and tried to keep the list updated. I managed to get some other last minute attendees but missed you, sorry.

I coulda sworn we would have been short.  Instead there are 20 lbs left for the BBQ this weekend!  The one to appease the neighbors.

Add me for next year too please!  Had I known, I would have donated!  You should have told me!  I did contribute to the beer fund even though I know there was more than enough.  So I'm sure it was put to good use!

While I did make sure I didn't leave a trail of cigarette butts in my wake, I probably could've done a better job of keeping away from everyone.  Sorry about that. :(

It was just a bit of tape and about half a square.  Turned out it was just enough- I think the adhesive really helped.

You sure the backup sensor we installed didn't make it easier for you to find your ass end?

Yeah, since I was following reed's ass home for much of the trip, I can tell you that most of the TP flew off once we reached Route 2-4 and started moving a little faster.
