MASSC Annual Skylands Run - Saturday, August 27th, 2011

Mark your calendars, as we will once again cruise the hills and forests of the Skylands Region of Northwest NJ on our annual MASSC Skylands Run.

As on our past runs, we will stop for lunch at the Chatterbox Drive-In, Welcome to The Chatterbox Drive-In Web Site!!!

I am currently looking into a new dinner location, and will update the thread once it has been confirmed.

Itinerary:
10:00am - Meet at Holiday Inn Express, 176 Howard Blvd, Mount Arlington, NJ 07856
(For those who may want to arrive early and eat breakfast, there is a Cracker Barrel and a Dunkin Donuts in the shopping mall by the Holiday Inn Express)

11:00am - Depart Holiday Inn Express

12:00 noon - Arrive at Chatterbox Drive-In for light lunch and photo op.

1:30pm - Depart Chatterbox Drive-In

2:30pm - Arrive Westfall Winery, Montague, NJ

3:30pm - Depart Westfall Winery

5:30pm - Group Dinner, location to be determined

I will start an "interest" list for the run for now.  Once we have a dinner location locked in, I will start a list of confirmed dinner attendees so that we can make a reservation.

Yup! I certainly remember Wild West City considering I organized the event! :D Hope you can make it.

We have some special guests attending our rally this time around: whitefang & ladyfang are in from CO, and Warthog is coming in from Ohio. Very cool!

Looks like solli4me has started breaking the attendance list into Run Groups:

Quote
Group2: *

sollli4me
The Fangs
Wartie
smartin
JustMike
Pacecar
Warren & Deb
Latisha + mom
Lisa + Dennis
jerzedvil (Frank + Judy)
CT Solstice
Limodriver
Gary4rv + 1
07Bluestone & Pat

*run order isn't set in stone... :)

http://youtu.be/_Eo3btT7UPA

So I guess that would by default make my run group:

Group #1:

dengel
Elff + Monica
spicy + 1
Spag
ChiliSky
Morfious
sirwm
thefred
Tarantula Sky
nomead
DrGolf
marlboromike(starting at the Chatterbox)
Shiny

These are of course just initial determinations to keep the groups split evenly amongst our two run leaders. So please don't feel restricted by these initial "assignments". Run groups can and probably will get updated as the date of the run approaches, based on additional sign-ups, cancellations, etc.

I just figured you'd want to be with the same group of people you always run with - I normally take everyone else, and usually there are some cross jumpers but regardless, I made up nice little group cards as souveniers.

Marlboromike said he is sitting this one out. He'll meet us at Chatterbox to video everyone coming in.

I didn't realize Mike doesn't want to do the drive at all.  Last year he ran with us from the Chatterbox until almost the end of the run.  I guess he can jump in with either group if he decides to do part of the drive.  :drive:

And I am always open to letting anyone (friends and newcomers alike) who wants to run in my group drive with me, whether it is because they like me personally, like my driving style, like the color of my car, or just plain flipped a coin to pick which group to run with.  ;)  As you find with any well-established group, a few long-time members of MASSC who have run with me before know my driving style and choose to run in my group, just as there are a few others who prefer your style of leading.  I just think its great we have two experienced road captains to lead the run, as its always hard to find those willing to step up and take the lead.  And I wanted the newcomers to know that they are free to run with either group, if they happen to have a personal preference.

The run cards sound cool.  Do you need me to put together turn-by-turn directions to put into booklets?  We probably don't want to finalize the printed directions until a week or two before the actual event just in case we have to do last minute re-routing for things like the road construction we encountered last year.  But I can probably get you a first draft of the GPS route and written instructions by mid-July for any pre-runs you want to do.
