he will NOT be running a twin turbo set up on this 2jz engine.

it currently has a SINGLE T-60 turbo.

it will easily get to 700hp  :)

I played with one coming back for Joe's before the meet, he had it in an older square box Corolla.  I had him up to around 60 where he finally started to get traction then he would shoot by me,  10 second car at the track.

And I thought I had traction problems!!!

Perfect combination

2jz + kappa

2 jz + t60 turbo + kappa :)

although the 2jz block is super strong and can easily handle 800-1000hp.......it is about 200lbs heavier than a LS engine :(

so weight balance is an issue on a kappa like that.

But the owner/builder stated that he's not really concerned about the weight issue since he just wana do it.  This project hasn't been done before, so he just wana make it work....and deal with the other issues once the car is up and running.

I give this guy lots of props.......

Yeah he may need to tune the suspension a bit to make up for the weight balance, but I'd get over that with so much power :)

This swap has got me thinking that it might be possible to swap a 1UZ-FE into the Kappa. There are bellhousing adapters.

Why would you use a 1uz, when any LSx series bolts up without a hitch- not to mention you're not going to make are much power as an LS v8 Vs. 1/2UZ v8s. AND the LS is cheaper to find and maintain. I get using a 2JZ or an RB-26, or even a 20B 3 rotor, but- the 1UZ?

Why not? Have you seen and heard videos of those things with ITB setups? Rev to 7000 RPM in less than 1/2 second. There are adapters to bolt it to a R154 and therefore by extension the AR-5. There are also adapters to TR6060. If the 2jz bolds into the stock mount locations then  the LS400 mounts will also bolt in.

Are you kidding? Had a supercharged LS430- I know that 1/2UZ inside and out and you won't make more power than an LS, and the ITB's cost more than the motor and an aftermarket ECU with harness. Not to mention, you'd still have to build the 1/2UZ to handle the ITBs- bottomline it's ur money if you wanna blow it like that, you most certainly may.

I personally gravitate towards the LS.  There is a reason that Formula Drift is employing them so steadily.  Cheap, tons of power under the curve, and reliable.  Hard to beat...

That said, I have a huge soft spot in my heart for straight sixs.  They also generally belong in a car that came with a straight six IMO.  That is a HEAVY motor but does make diesel like torque....
