duh?!
« on: July 13, 2011, 02:01:03 PM »
IT IS A DIRECT DROP IN! :slap: That's the point- my question is that werks offers it as a solution for LNF's that have encountered fuel starvation- so again- has anyone here tried it?

I take it you're referring to the gas tank fuel pump?

its not an INSTANT solution

according to DAVE:  .........It does not automatically give the LNF 700hp support. Solutions to make the DI high pressure pump output more are being worked on. This fuel pump fits across the LE5 and LNF in tank replacement pump platforms and has a 700hp rating, on the LE5, it will support it, not a problem. The LNF will need additional fuel injecting such as an auxillary injector setup to acheive the 700hp fueling number

i didn't mean to make this a new topic... this should have been attached to the SOB fuel pump issues page...

Good looking out Tonio- so this upgrade is for the LP pump... bummed out that this does not push the HP pump to flow out more... Since ur in good with Werks can you verify what plan of attack they have with regards to HP fuel pump.

DBGXP- I'm still rockin the good ol' LNF- till I blow it up- then I'm off to 2JZ territory (unless I go the Phixious way to a really fast sports car; and buy a Viper ACR or in my case- a Switzer P700 GT-R).

bro, all I can think of is a higher flowing HPFP, which zzp is also working on.

4 lobe cam instead of 3 lobe?

Well, Streak is alive again. I won't know about the high rpm misfire until the two event this weekend as I am not having any issues on the streets. From all I have gathered, NOBODY has "THE" solution for fuel starvation (on E85) on the LNF roadster platform. Pay attention to THIS as I do not want to piss off vendors --- Werks' in tank fuel pump looks a lot like the Walbro 255 pump that DDM sells. It's value on 100 GASOLINE applications needs to be addressed by those that KNOW what the benefit is through first hand experience. After installing a DDM Walbro set up on my 100% E85 Redline, I saw no difference. Disclaimer: I may have had other things going on as well, and I will know more this weekend. Additionally, ZZP is focused on Cobalts (can't blame them - the Cobalt/HHR market is MUCH larger than the Kappa) and the various pump solutions may not work across y=the two platforms. ZZP says the Walbro 255 does NOT help the Cobalts as (they state) the stock pump flows MORE !!! BUT, that is apparently on Cobalt/HHR LNFs. DDM and Werks say the 255 DOES help. (Beats the hell out of me!!) So, we move to the high pressure pumps. At the moment only ZZP has product, and is working on newer versions. They offer a cam with altered pump cam lobes with a modified HP pump, and is working on a stand alone non LNF HP pump. To add to the confusion, Cobalt tuners are playing with E85 blends as well as all sorts of tuning solutions. My guess is that until there is a higher volume HP pump, solutions for E85 will be "work arounds", and high volume gasoline challenges (big or dual turbo applications) will need same and/or other solutions (secondary injector systems). One thing for sure ............ people are working on this, and over the fall/winter a lot may develop.
