I've seen people who were interested in putting Cobalt SS Brembo brakes onto Kappas, but  seemed that it would not bolt on, at least on the rears, and they may not fit with the stock sized wheels without spacers. But now I just saw this in the SCCA rulebook:

Quote
Brake calipers and rotors from Chevrolet Cobalt SS (08-09) permitted - part numbers 25900763 - left front caliper, 25900764 - right front caliper, 25902073 - left rear caliper, 25902074 - right rear caliper, 25869424 - rear caliper bracket, 25994100 - front rotors, 15921402 - rear rotors.

Maybe the rear caliper bracket part 25869424 is what is needed to make the rears bolt on?

For anyone who wants a fancy Brembo sticker on their brakes, this might be the easiest way.

I'm not spending anymore time on this though, because I'm not going to upgrade my brakes. So if someone wants to roll with it and research it, go for it!

So do the Front brembos bolt up? Just wondering cause it would be alittle cheaper bbk option. Brembo's plus the 315mm 2 piece floating rotors from Powell would be nice and could be had for around $1200 ish with new SS lines.

I assume that you found that either is Fastrack or the GCR. Where exactly is that info? One thing to consider may be that these are for a front driver and thus the fronts are even bigger than the Kappa fronts. More front bias? Ick.

p.s. If the Brembos are not e-brake equipped, they are no legal in most SCCA Solo classes, and may be an issue with NASA and SCCA racing, class dependent.

Yeah this whole thing started from me calling Phoenix to ask how they setup the brake ducts. They said to check the rule book for part numbers of what is allowed. I found that info, then I saw this.

If it's allowed, I would assume they would use it.

Thanks. I wonder if Phoenix has tried this???

It appears that Phoenix has given up on the Solstice and has moved its efforts in T2 to the 2011 Ford Mustang, at least according to the entry list at SCCA National Runoffs at Road America.

Hrm, I thought Don was going to be there in a Solstice, maybe it's not a Phoenix built Solstice?

Don is listed on the entry list as being in a 2011 Ford Mustang, sponsored by Phoenix, as is Andrew Aquilante.

Bill Moore, Michael Pettiford, and Andy Wolverton are entered in Solstices.  Performance Autowerks is a sponsor for Andy.

For that price you could just get a whole kit

I totally agree to the point that I have their front and rear wilwood kits sitting in my garage waiting to be installed
