DDMworks Center Consoles - Now accepting orders
« on: September 27, 2011, 02:27:31 PM »
The center consoles have made it into production and after making sure we have them right, we have already shipped the first batch out. We have regular production started now on them and the next production batch comes in on October 6th.

For those that have not seen these, they are a replacement center console that is installed in place of the stock piece, so if your stock center console is broken (the piece that you rest your arm on) this piece is a direct replacement. We do not need your stock piece back and there is no core charge when ordering.

There are a couple things that we improved on with the new center console. The first improvement is that the center console is available with 2 cupholders in it that are in a place that is much more user friendly then the other cup holders in the car. They also work great for holding cell phones, loose change and sun glasses.

The second thing we did was to elevate the center of the console slightly which makes for a more natural resting position for your arm while driving.

Lastly we made the console much stronger then the stock piece, which will keep it from breaking over time.

The center console is sold in raw fiberglass gel coat, which is nice and smooth and can be painted. We also have teamed up with the shop that does custom hot rod interiors and they will cover it in black or grey for $100. Another option is that we will be happy to ship the center console to JPM if you would like something custom done with the covering.

Here is a picture of the raw center console without cup holders installed:

To place your order for one, here is the link to our website - http://ddmworks.com/solstice/interior/center_console.html or just give us a call at 864-438-4949.

If you would like your console covered just put what color leather you would like in the comment box and we will get it taken care of for you. Also if you have any other questions, feel free to let me know!

Thanks!
Dave

Dave, you say "The center console is sold in raw fiberglass gel coat"
does that mean it comes in black color to match the interior or is it raw as in the 2 last pictures (white)?

The raw fiberglass gel coat can be either a light grey color or a black color, just depends on when they are made. I would not say that either of the raw gel coats match the interior very well, but are ready to be painted if you would like. We have already had a lot of people want to paint them to match the body color of the car.

Douche.

And by that I mean clean the surface really well so when you glue down the material to the fiberglass it sticks.  Oily fingers (and Dave's really dirty sneakers) have been all over the new fiberglass.

Douche.

Make sure it's clean before you stick it to it.

Seriously?  Why would you go and twist my words around like that?  Don't get in the middle to something that has nothing to do with you.  Some of us here just want to have a laugh sometimes.  I just don't understand why I can't make a joke to one member and not have another nosy ass member poke his two cents in.

Would love some feed back from someone who has one of these installed with a manual shifter. I want to be sure it does not interfere on a standard. I would use the cup holder for change, garage door clicker and blackberry. Rarely would I use it as a cup holder as I have my Santana billet one that I love. This looks like a great product...I would have It sent to Joe at JPM for covering. This could be my Christmas present!!! :yay:
Appreciate any and all feedback.

I have it installed with a manual shifter and the only time I have issues is with a large Dunkin Donuts Coffee size cup or larger in the cup holder.

Just requires some "creative" shifting by placing your right arm down the center of the console vice to the left of the console.

The extra lift built into the console makes it much more natural for driving and I use it for a cellphone and change holder anyways...

Assuming that you are not a supporting member either here or on the Skyroadster forum, you post pictures the same way on either site.

Actually Skyroadster allows any member, even non-supporting, to post photos directly.

As it's another AutoGuide site I assumed posting pictures there was the same as the big board but I obviously assumed wrong. Thanks for the clarification Mark.
