No. That stuff is NOT fun. Which is why lots of us run with other clubs, as well as SCCA.
WDC Region runs a big solo operation in our area. Their events at FedEx Field have the most technical and challenging courses around, They manage the grid with Teutonic precision allowing huge 200 car fields, and have a lot of very serious, highly competitive drivers. But frankly, the at times obsessive focus on rules and procedures and a heirarchical organization with the same small group of people at the top calling the shots diminishes the fun factor somewhat for some of us. They are very dedicated and put in a ton of time and effort, so I guess they earn the right. And to keep things moving with such huge fields someone needs to be in charge. But still . . .
SCCA WDC Region PDX and TT is a totally different vibe. Very serious and safety conscious, but open, welcoming, fun and irreverant.
We are fortunate to have wealth of autox choices locally, reflecting a variety of attitudes and conditions. I like to run with as many as I can.
