Not to remove it!

They are option codes and installed features like paint color, tires, wheels, ect...

This shows the RPO codes of the options installed on your car.  "G80", for instance, indicates a limited slip differential.

The 722J is the paint code, IOW "Deep" or Dark Ming Blue Metallic.   The 2MB67 is the model identifier, indicating a Solstice Convertible, not a GXP.

The GXP is identified as 2MG67.

Hmm . . .  the MF in the first part of the VIN number indicates a Solstice GXP Convertible w/ auto trans.

Leave it to GM to mess up a tag.  Trust the VIN#, it's a GXP.

Are you sure? I just checked my '07 GXP's vin and it has MG in it instead of MF. (I also have an automatic transmission)

My '08 Sky RL manual is 1G8MG.  From all my looking at VIN's while on my searching to find a car to buy I'm pretty sure MF should be the code for auto and MG for manual.   The 8th character is for the engine:  X for the 2.0 (RL), B for the 2.4 (base).  I'm pretty sure this is GM standard, so applies to Solstice and Sky.

If you've not seen it you can go to http://www.compnine.com/ and go to the VIN search to see what original option codes your car came with, and a description of them.

Well, after posting it appears compnine has shut down.  Anybody know of a site with similar function?

The 2MB67 and 2MG67 are model numbers, not a part of the VIN#

The characters in position 4 and 5 of the VIN change meaning depending on the model year.
For 2008:
MB  = Solstice/Sky Convertible with Manual Transmission
MC = Solstice/Sky Convertible w/ Auto Transmission
MF =  GXP/Redline Convertible w/ Auto Transmission
MG = GXP/Redline Convertible w/ Manual Transmission

Well, that comes as a surprise, and no I don't know of another site that decodes VIN#s as conveniently.

I remember when searching for my SKY Red Line that there was some discrepancy between the VIN and the RPO Code List.
I just attributed it to a GM inconsistency.

Here's a link to a posting by Stephen (saf0775) on the SKY Forum providing the RPO Codes:
http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/f5/rpo-codes-36984/

And here's a link to the 2008 GM Passenger Card VIN System:
http://www.mycertifiedservice.com/gmgoodwrenchjsp/gmspo/Vin/2008vincard.pdf

Hope this helps,
Brian

I think this .pdf is the cause for confusion for some of the VIN codes, every RL manual I've seen for sale has the MG code vice the MF code.

In the attached file at the bottom of this post you will find the RPOs for the 2009 Solstice. As it's a fairly large PDF it may not open in your browser.

OK, not sure why I did this, but I did!  I OCR'd the 2009 pdf that Bob posted into a spreadsheet, then did a comparison of the 2009 RPO list, Bob's 2008(?) text list and the 2008 Sky forum Word doc list that bds linked-to.  Interesting that all of these differ and all have some codes that others don't as well as differing textual descriptions.  Not sure that it's worth anything to anyone, but I created the attached spreadsheet showing those three versions side by side and aligned so you can see the differences (also included is the full 2009 equipment list from the pdf, as a second tab).  Enjoy.

Thanks Mark for taking the time to do that. I believe thought that the text list that I posted was for a 2007 and I will update my post to reflect that.

OK, I updated the spreadsheet column titles accordingly and re-attached in the post above

If anyone is interested, I have the Solstice printbooks for 2007, 2008, and 2009 in PDF format, also the Sky printbook for 2009 in PDF.  They all have the RPO printouts in the rear of the document.  If you want to add to your list PM me with your email address.

Not sure about all of those but I can tell ya' that the 25U is your paint colour, Deep (Dark Blue Metallic).

edit:  Google came through again    ;)

IP2 Trim - Interior Design (P2)
R9N - LEATHER SEAT TRIM
SLM - sales processing stock orders
1SZ Preferred Equipement
19I Interior Trim Ebony (I) (00)

That last one is 19I not 191 as far as I can tell.
