coolant leak
« on: November 01, 2011, 03:23:10 PM »
2008 2.4 Solstice with 80,000 miles is using about 12 ounces of coolant every 2 weeks. cant find a leak any where. Temp is fine. Any ideas where it could be going ??? I see alot of water pump write ups. is this why the pumps get changed ??

Thanks,
Scott

Make sure your oil is not milky looking (water and oil) and check for white smoke out the tail pipe. Other than that I am at a loss.
Good luck.

I saw evidence of a leak in  many areas.  When I got it up on a lift with a strong light I still had to be in the exactly right position to see the weep hole at the bottom of the w/p to verify that was the source.

Thanks for the fast replys. I will bet its weeping out the pump. I will get it up in the air and have a look. I will make my best pitch at a warranty repair.

It is a warranty repair. Covered for 100k miles. I found mine by finding the residue on the front right sub frame. Like a red gooey residue. Not coolant looking at all. Have the person look in the vicinity of the right motor mount. That is the easiest place to find leakage buildup.
