I will attempted to keep everyone updated as the planning develops for "Pontiacs in the Park" unfolds.  Members of the CVGTO fourm & others will be meeting with VA MSP to assist in the planning.  CVGTO is excited that there are some solstice owners interested in coming as they have not had ANY solstice attend the prior PITP events.

UPDATE from CVGTO forum by hada68gto;  2/17/09:
"Had a good meeting with Bryan Pierce of VMSP yesterday. Meeting went on for and hour and a half. Tomcat joined us for a little while by phone. Here is an outline of our discussions:
Parking- New gen GTO groups would like our own little parking corral somewhere near the show rather than random parking way back or off on the side on the gravel. He seemed to think he could do that.
Tickets- We would like to be able to buy single or two day tickets instead of having to pay for full 3 day event if we couldn't come every day. He said he would work on that.
Car Show- Agreed to have it all in 1 day (hopefully saturday) with classes for modified as well as stock classes. He was unsure about someone to head up judging and of course I strongly recommended Chris.
GTO races- Willing to set up a Friday and Sat. morning qualifying for our late gen. GTO's to run in index classes. Tom suggested in half second intervals 13.5, 13, 12.5, 12 on down but especially in slower classes. 11 and maybe 10 second groups could go down whole mph. Instead of a quick 8, he said even a quick 16 would be doable! Probably will not be significant prize money for winners, just maybe a trophy.
Vendors- Bryan was very positive about late gen GTO vendors being invited. I have already talked with Brandon at Maryland Speed. Also I'm gonna ask Mark Mizelle, the new Pedders dealer in Va. Beach about coming with perhaps help from Justice Pete to showcase their stuff.
I have a Vendor's form I can make copies of if you want to contact others . Vendor's fee is $150 for a 20/2O foot space. Bryan said if the vendor actively promoted PITP, he would negotiate a discount on the fee.
Pontiac Dealers- Brian would like for us to email him names and contact info for enthusiasts friendly Pontiac dealers in our areas who would join in a mass mailing about PITP. His email is bryanp@virginiamotorsports.com
Possible Autocross - They are looking into at least a demonstration autocross course for us, Solistices. Fiero's whoever. I'll pass along info when available.
Hope this helps. DT"

I hoping that if we can get a good contingency of Solstice to show interest that we can get some considerations as well  i.e. in parking and some events.  Bearing in mind that it is the Central Virginia GTO club that is organizing it this year and their main focus has always been the "muscle" cars.  I'd like for us to promote our sols/skys & show that we can run with the "big boys"   :D

Our home will be open and available for those who don't wish to stay at one of the hotels near VMP.  We're just off I-295 and live about 45 miles north of VMP.  We have 2 extra bedrooms w/ beds, (1 is already reserved for Ronzer),  and plenty of floor space for those who don't mind "camping" on the floor.  Parking for your sols is not an issue either, plenty of parking and water for washing and leafblower for drying if your car needs it.  If you're allergic to cats, you may not want to stay as we have 2.  The dog will be at the "doggie resort" for the weekend.

If anyone is interested, just let me know.

All bedrooms are now taken, but still have 2 couches, & "plenty" of floor space for those who are willing to "camp out".  Blankets & pillows are not an issue either.  I know I have a fullsize air mattress some where   :idk:
And for those who are really adventurous....I can put up the 3 man tent, you can sleep in the back on our Explorer (back seat down) or in the bed of GXPsy's big sister Saphira

ADDITIONAL INFO:

CVGTO FORUM: Regarding safety equipment
hada68gto:
Nothing to join to take part in PITP. Just show up. No real safety equipment if you're running in the 13's. I think around 12 seconds, you need a helmet. Get one at Pep Boys. At 11.5 i had to have a flame jacket. Should you need one, Summit Racing sells them. When I hit in the 11.3 range they started bugging me about a 5 point harness (which I never bought) Anything below 11.0 they say you need a roll cage.

yowzerman:
I believe the helmet is required for 13.99 and faster according to NHRA rules. It must be SFI certified, at least, for 2005. Long pants and shirts with sleeves (short sleeves are OK but no tank tops) if you plan to race at all. Of course, anyone going fast fast will need the fire jacket, special seat harnesses and roll cages. Super fast will need a parachute.

We got back safely.  Jeff and Pat were terrific hosts and allowed us to stay in their home.  Thanks :yourock:

He's some pics of the events.  We did car shows both days.

We all won "Top 25" on Saturday.  Jeff-GTO, Pat-Sol GXP, Joe-SolGXP.
Today Jeff and Pat won "Top 15" and I won "Best in Show - 1985-2009"
