« on: April 20, 2012, 08:17:59 PM »
Fourth Annual North Carolina High Country Cruise
Twistin IV

August 30th thru September 3rd, Labor Day Weekend, The last Run of Summer...

Well folks this is coming out a little later this year than in the past due to Nationals work and planning but it is now time to announce the Fourth Annual North Carolina High Country Cruise - Twisting IV. As in the past we have a great weekend planned this year...

For those of you who haven't joined us in the past, The High Country encompasses the West Jefferson, Boone/Blowing Rock areas of North Carolina out to Mountain City Tennessee and down to Asheville North Carolina. This area has some great views, some great drives, and some of the best twisties… :drag: There are lots of attractions and lots of things to do in this area.

We have 2 great runs planned again for you all this year.

The main run this year will again be on Saturday and we will revisit the run from our first High Country out to Watauga Lake with a picnic lunch at the lake. (I'm working on finding a place to get sandwiches for our Picnic at the lake)

The second run will be a Shorter run on Sunday with lunch at the same place as last year, Old Hampton Store and Grist Mill.

We will also still do a lunch run on Friday with an as yet determined route but we will enjoy lunch at the same place as last year, The Mellow Mushroom.

So if you have never come to our High Country Cruise come on and join the fun... If you have joined us before you know just how much fun it is, come on and join us again... Great Rides, Great Views, Lots to see and do, and of course Great People... So Come on, join us...

This year we will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express Blowing Rock in Blowing Rock NC. and all runs will begin and end at the hotel.

Motel Info:
The High Country Cruise should be loaded into the computer by now.
We have a block of 20 rooms here with the option to increase that number if needed.

The nights included are; August 30th & 31st and September 1st & 2nd 2012 (I may be able to add nights on August 29th and September 3rd if needed. Please let me know so I can call them and set this up.) at the rate of $94.00 per room, per night, not including tax. Rates are the same as last years rates... The block of rooms will work as follows:

The block is set up under the name High Country Cruise. Each guest will be able to call the hotel directly at 828-295-4422 and mention the group name High Country Cruise to book a room. After mentioning the group name High Country Cruise, each guest will be reserved into this block of rooms at the discounted rate. 30 days prior to the weekend of our event - in this case July 3oth, 2012, any rooms in our block that have not been reserved by High Country Cruise participants will be released into our general inventory to be sold. If someone after this date still needs accommodations, they can call the hotel, mention the group name High Country Cruise and IF a room is still available, reserve it with the group High Country Cruise and be eligible for the discount. The room within the 30 days prior to the weekend will not be specifically held only for our group.

Again, the number for guests to call for reservations are:
828-295-4422 and the group name is High Country Cruise.

Please let me know either by post or PM if you plan to attend....

Ok folks I'm going to put this out for a vote both here and on FB. I have 2 ideas for lunch:

1. We can get Subs at Subway, which is right down the street form the Holiday Inn, and carry them with us for a picnic lunch by Watauga Lake.

2. We can stop at The Captain's Table Restaurant on Watauga Lake for lunch.

Let me know which you would prefer.

Ok folks I know it's still a week away but from what I see the weather doesn't look to promising for our weekend. I'm going to keep a watch on it but if it is going to be raining there will be no way to do any runs. I'll keep a watch on the weather and make a decision by Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed folks...

Our daughter worked in Wilksboro some time back, and we got to know some of that beautiful country around Blowing Rock. Unfortunately we cannot make your High Country event due to previous obligations. Look for us next year though............
